Theo had slowly been integrated back into our group. Tensions were still high between him and everyone. I, myself, still didn't trust him fully but I acted like I did to try and get our friends to let him back in. So far there'd been an argument every night, one cup of pumpkin just spilled on him as revenge, and a lot of pulling me aside to make sure this was what I wanted. It'd been a rough week.
Mum and dad were out today for a doctors appointment regarding the baby, which meant Minnie and Snape were filling in for them. Mums class was a breeze. Minnie ran us through the lesson and dismissed us like it was nothing for her to be back in the classroom. I took my spot on dad's class next to Enzo.
"Good morning, students. Can anyone tell me what amortentia is?" Theo raised his hand, Snape pointed to him.
"The most powerful love potion. It's rumored that whatever you smell is who you love most. Your soulmate even."
"Mr. Nott, since you're so knowledgeable about the potion, come give us a demonstration." Snape ordered. Theo stood up and made his way to the front of the class, giving me a pointed look on his way.
"Whenever you're ready, Nott." Theo smelled the potion and smiled.
"Vanilla, peaches, espresso, that morning smell after it rains and faint chocolate mixed with smoke." He stared at me the whole time. Enzo tensed up beside me. Daph scoffed behind me. I was hit with a million memories all at once. Chocolate croissants and espresso with cigarettes at cafes. Blowing smoke in each other's mouths. Mornings in Italy.
"Very good," Theo nodded to Snape. "Choose the next one to come up."
"Oh, Enzo, come on mate." He smiled devilishly at him. Enzo rolled his eyes and walked up.
"Old books, vanilla, peaches," He looked up and over at me. "and stale smoke." Uncle Moony's old books. Study dates. Laying outside in the mornings at mum and dad's as kids.
"Miss Potter, you seem to be an interesting topic today. Tell us what you smell."
"Do I have to?" He nodded. I got up and stood in front of him. "Like really have to?"
"Thank your Uncle for me, will you?" He replied. I pulled my lips into a tight line.
"Sure will, Professor. Thank him for myself as well."
"What do you smell, Potter?" Snape demanded. I took a deep breath.
"Old books, broomsticks, cologne, my parents house and uh," I looked up at Pansy with pleading eyes. Hers softened. "uh, cigarettes." I stood up straight.
"Thank you, Miss Potter." I nodded curtly and returned to my seat. Pansy turned around.
"Who's cologne?" She asked. I glared back. She offered an awkward smile and turned around.
🗡️🗡️🗡️
"Nora," Enzo started as we walked out of class. I gave him a sad smile. "Nora, it's okay."
"I'm terrible, Enz. You can say it."
"You're not terrible. You feel something for him, bug. That's normal. I'd think you were crazy if you didn't. But you feel something for me too, that's what matters."
"Why are you such a good person all of the sudden?" I asked. He laughed.
"I'm not, but I need you to know I'm all in either way El."
"Hey, can I talk to you?" Theo asked as he caught up with us. I didn't miss the awkward glance shared between him and Enzo. Mentally, I beat the shit out of myself for getting us all in this position.
