chapter 19 - please, jade

"The Elliots are known for many things; Class, Tenacity, Currently being alive, but one thing of that matter will change today," James announced, opening his speech with him tapping on his wine glass.

Louisa gave him a dirty look, before he continued.

"Louisa and I have decided," He paused, "to get a divorce-"

Before the room could gasp, the door to the ballroom opened loudly.

"EVERYONE STAND BACK!" Tessa shouted across the room, J by her side.

"This is a citizen's murder..." She finished, the revolver in hand as he aimed.

Everyone in the room looked at her, James and Louisa as astonished she was able to make it out of her room somehow.

"That dress..." Lousia spoke nastily under her breath, fanning herself with the new fan she withheld.

"Now listen here young lady you-" James began to scold, before the tables flung to the sides of the room.

Humans were thrown onto the floor being cut by the shattered China plates and dishes, while the silverware clanked across the room.

They screamed for help, Tessa going to help them before J stopped her.

"Boss," J pointed in front of her.

Cyn was spotted on a globe of the newly discovered planet; Copper 9.

She spun to reveal her face, the lightning of outside erupting and flashing dark tentacles around the drone. Tessa looked at her as she glitched down to her level, somewhat holding the globe in hand, it floating slightly.

"Tessa," She spoke, looking at the girl.

J looked at her, fear in her small digital eyes.

"Tessa, be careful," J spoke, looking at her anxiously.

"I know I know..." Tessa spoke, still knowing that she really didn't.

She was always intimidated by Cyn and never wanted to bring harm to any of the drones she had rescued.

"Remember, you didn't have to-"

Tessa chucked a broken plate at Cyn before she used the solver to block it out, causing it to fling onto a human and shatter more.

Tessa repeated this but with a butter knife, and then a glass cup.

Cyn kept easily preventing the attacks with the solver, looking at Tessa silently before she ran out of objects to throw.

Cyn narrowed her eyes before raising her hand.

"Tessa, get behind me..." J spoke nervously.

"Jade I don't need-"

"I SAID GET BEHIND ME!"

Tessa obeyed, standing behind her but still watching Cyn carefully.

"I don't wanna lose you Tess," J spoke reassuringly.

"Jade, I'll be ok..."

J didn't respond.

"Jade...?-"

The lights went out, everything being consumed by the darkness immediately before rays of yellow erupted from every corner of the room.

Tessa squinted at the light drastically changing, looking around in fear, and then at J.

Drones crawled along the ceilings and walls, drones began to attack humans, and Cyn, at the center of it all, was an eldritch horror resembling some sort of caterpillar like form with cameras for eyes and different limbs in yellow and white colors decorating it.
