"What are dragons like?" I asked Cenderion as we strolled towards the queens' court. We had finished lunch with Hildegard and Eros, but my dragon guest had apparently been causing quite the unrest while being made to wait.

"They are like you or me, just bigger and quicker to anger." He said pulling me closer. Our arms were linked as a proper married couple, and I had to admit I liked it.

"Yes, patience is not their strong suit." Eros sighed. I glanced back at Hildegard and Eros who were walking behind us. Hildegard had changed to her equine form with Cenderion's permission, and she seemed much more comfortable. He had also noticed that our past conversation was leading to a low for me, and he insisted we took a break for lunch. Now the dragon was demanding an audience, so we decided to table our discussion. Take a recess in fancy court terms. I was happy to move away from me being the main topic, but them hovering nearby was a constant reminder that our conversation was not done.

"Due to their need to hibernate and rest often, dragons view their time as precious. There is no greater insult than to keep a dragon waiting, or to waste their time on something they deem frivolous. They would much rather spend it basking in their treasure or pursuing personal interests." Hildegard said without judgement. The two of them claimed that they had been working with the dragons for the past few years, so it made sense that they had this documentary type of knowledge about them. I didn't remember reading anything about dragons being impatient or hibernating frequently in Ulysses' book, but there was no reason to doubt them.

"So I already pissed the big guy off." I sighed beginning to dread the coming conversation. I had inadvertently made him wait three days, and I even had the gall to make him wait until the afternoon after I had awoken. I wasn't sure what he wanted to speak to me about, but I'm sure whatever it was had gone sour by now from wasting his precious time.

"No, Lily. If anything, you should be more upset." Cenderion said.

"Me? Why?" I asked confused.

"You are the dryad queen that risked her safety and selflessly freed him from his eternal torment, and yet he bellows and groans for an audience as if he is entitled to one. I would have made him wait another week to put him in his place." He said with the trees trembling beside him. I could feel his frustration and repulsion wriggling through my own feelings of confusion and peace.

"Was he really that bad?" I asked intrigued. It was hard to imagine a creature of that magnitude throwing a tantrum over waiting to speak with me. A part of me wondered why he didn't just leave.

Cenderion's emotions tempered and his brown eyes relaxed. "No. He always spoke with reverence, and dealt with the fae's complaints with grace. He just asks to see you every time someone speaks with him, and now that he knows you are awake he has been stressing how urgent it is. Yet no matter how polite he may be, I don't like how everyone is demanding things of you. We have hardly had time to reconnect ourselves." A puff of arousal from my husband hinted to what he meant by reconnect, and I immediately changed colors while slapping his arm.

"Cenderion!" I hissed. There was an actual angel and unicorn standing behind us and he was trying to be suggestive? What happened to the fierce noble king who bent to no one?
