The sky in Mumbai was painted in various shades of gray, thick clouds gathering like an army ready for battle. Savi hurried along the bustling streets, the noise of the city buzzing around her. She was deep in thought about her upcoming presentation when the first drops of rain began to fall, quickly evolving into a torrential downpour. People dashed for cover, and Savi found herself laughing at the absurdity of it all. Just when she thought she was finally getting used to the chaos of the city, it threw her a curveball.
"Of course it would rain now," she muttered to herself, looking for shelter. She spotted a nearby bus stop crowded with students. Sprinting over, she joined a group of her classmates, attempting to shield herself from the rain.
"Nice timing, right?" Rajat's voice broke through her thoughts, pulling her from her musings. He stood beside her, drenched but still managing to look effortlessly handsome.
"Yeah, as if we didn't have enough chaos in our lives already," Savi replied, a grin spreading across her face despite the rain soaking her.
Rajat chuckled, shaking his head. "Welcome to Mumbai, where the weather has its own agenda."
They stood in comfortable silence for a moment, watching the rain cascade down like a waterfall. The atmosphere around them was charged; it felt like a moment suspended in time. Savi could feel her heart racing as she caught glimpses of Rajat from the corner of her eye, the way the rain trickled down his face, highlighting the sharp angles of his jaw.
"Are you going to be okay?" he asked, breaking the silence as he pulled his phone from his pocket, glancing at it.
"I'm fine. Just a little wet," she replied, waving her hand dismissively. "I've survived worse."
Rajat turned to her, his expression serious. "You really are something else, you know that?"
Savi blinked, taken aback. "What do you mean?"
"You just... roll with it. Most people would be complaining, but here you are, laughing in the rain." He leaned slightly closer, and for a moment, the noise of the city faded away.
Savi felt her cheeks flush under his gaze, a warm flutter spreading through her. "Well, I have to find joy in the little things, right?"
"Yeah, and you seem to do it well," he said, a soft smile tugging at his lips. "But I don't want you catching a cold. Here." He shrugged off his jacket, offering it to her.
"No, I can't take your jacket. You'll get cold!" Savi protested, feeling a mix of gratitude and embarrassment.
"Please," he insisted, draping the jacket over her shoulders. "I'll be fine. It's not like I'm made of sugar."
Savi couldn't help but smile as she adjusted the jacket around her. It was much too big for her, the sleeves hanging past her hands, and she could smell his cologne lingering on the fabric. "Thanks, Rajat," she said softly, the weight of the gesture settling in her heart.
"Just don't get used to it," he teased, but there was a tenderness in his eyes that made her stomach flutter.
Their moment of connection hung in the air, charged with something unspoken. The rain continued to pour around them, a symphony of sound that enveloped their conversation in a cocoon of intimacy. Savi could feel the tension building between them, a pull that seemed to draw them closer despite the chaos around them.
"Do you remember that time we had to work on that project together?" Savi asked suddenly, breaking the charged silence. "You were such a pain."
"Yeah, well, you made it pretty easy to be a pain," he shot back, laughter dancing in his eyes. "But seriously, we made a pretty good team."
