The days turned into weeks, and Savi found herself settling into a rhythm in her new life. Classes at the college were challenging but invigorating, and her study sessions with Rajat had blossomed into something she cherished. They had moved past the bickering phase, and their rapport felt almost... comfortable. Yet, an unexpected tension lingered beneath the surface, one that Savi struggled to understand.

One Friday afternoon, as Savi wrapped up a group project with her classmates, she noticed a new face among them—a charming guy named Arjun. He was outgoing, with an easy smile and a magnetic energy that drew everyone in. As they discussed their project, Savi couldn't help but find herself laughing at his jokes and enjoying the attention he lavished on her.

"Great point, Savi! You're really on fire today," Arjun said, grinning as he leaned closer to her.

"Thanks, Arjun! I just want to make sure we do well," Savi replied, feeling a warmth bloom in her chest at his praise.

Unbeknownst to her, Rajat stood a few feet away, observing the interaction with narrowed eyes. He had just arrived at the café where they usually met after classes, and the sight of Savi laughing with Arjun sparked something dark and unfamiliar within him. A tightness gripped his chest as he watched Savi lean forward, animatedly discussing ideas with Arjun.

"Hey, Rajat!" Savi called out, her eyes lighting up when she spotted him. "Come join us!"

Rajat forced a smile, masking the surge of irritation coursing through him. "Sure," he said, walking over to their table. "What's going on?"

"Just brainstorming for our project," Savi replied, gesturing to the papers scattered across the table. "Arjun was just sharing some great ideas."

"Yeah, Savi's really bringing her A-game. We're lucky to have her," Arjun chimed in, flashing a disarming smile at Rajat.

"Right," Rajat said curtly, barely suppressing a scowl. He took a seat, the atmosphere shifting as his presence seemed to dampen the light-hearted mood. He noticed how Arjun leaned a bit too close to Savi, his hand casually brushing against hers as they shared notes.

"Maybe we should work together this weekend to finalize everything?" Arjun suggested, his tone playful as he glanced between Savi and Rajat.

Savi's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "That sounds like a great idea! I'm free Saturday."

"Count me out," Rajat interjected, the possessiveness creeping into his voice. "Savi and I have plans to study. Right?" He looked at Savi pointedly.

Savi blinked, a flicker of confusion crossing her face. "Oh, um, yeah... but I could—"

"No, it's cool," Arjun cut in, waving a dismissive hand. "We can always meet another time. Your study sessions are important!"

Rajat clenched his jaw, trying to rein in the irritation bubbling beneath the surface. "Yeah, they are. You know, Savi has a lot on her plate. She shouldn't overcommit," he said, his tone sharper than intended.

Savi raised an eyebrow, sensing the tension rising between them. "Rajat, it's okay. I can manage both."

"No, it's really not," Rajat replied, his voice firm. "You need to focus on your IAS prep. That's what matters, not some guy's random project."

The table fell silent, the weight of Rajat's words hanging in the air. Arjun looked between them, his easy demeanor faltering. "Hey, no need to get defensive. I was just suggesting some collaboration."

Savi felt her stomach knot. "I appreciate it, Arjun, but Rajat's right. I need to prioritize my studies. We can catch up another time."

Arjun nodded, though a hint of disappointment flashed across his face. "Sure, no problem. Just let me know if you change your mind."
