Savi paced her small apartment, her heart racing as she glanced at her phone for what felt like the hundredth time. It had been a week since she'd taken the IAS exam, and each passing day felt like an eternity. The weight of uncertainty pressed heavily on her, and her thoughts spiraled as she imagined all the possible outcomes.
"What if I didn't do well?" she muttered to herself, running her fingers through her hair. "What if all this was for nothing?"
As she settled onto her couch, the silence enveloped her, amplifying her anxiety. Rajat had promised to be there for her during this waiting period, but she hated the feeling of being a burden. What if he grew tired of her worry?
Savi shook her head, trying to dispel the negative thoughts. You're stronger than this. You've come too far to let fear hold you back. But it was easier said than done. The hours dragged on, each tick of the clock echoing in her mind, reminding her of the results that would ultimately shape her future.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a message from Rajat.
Text from Rajat:
Get ready! I have a surprise for you tonight. Meet me at the park at 7!
Savi's heart fluttered. She quickly freshened up, throwing on a comfortable yet cute sundress that made her feel a bit more confident, the anticipation lifting her spirits.
As she made her way to the park, the evening sky painted with hues of pink and orange, Savi felt a rush of excitement that was almost palpable.
When she arrived, Rajat was already there, setting up a small picnic under the stars. A blanket was spread out on the grass, adorned with fairy lights that twinkled like stars. The sight filled her with warmth and affection.
"Wow," Savi gasped, her eyes wide with delight. "This is beautiful, Rajat!"
"Just a little something to take your mind off things," he replied, flashing that charming smile that always made her heart skip a beat. "I know you've been anxious about the results, so I thought we could have a special night."
Savi felt her heart swell with gratitude. "You always know how to cheer me up."
They settled on the blanket, Rajat pouring them each a glass of sparkling juice, the bubbles rising like the excitement in her heart.
"To new beginnings," he said, raising his glass.
"Cheers," Savi replied, clinking her glass against his, the sound of their laughter echoing into the night.
As they enjoyed their meal, the conversation flowed easily. They talked about everything—future plans, dreams, and their individual ambitions.
"I've always admired your determination, Savi," Rajat said, his gaze intense. "You're going to make an incredible IAS officer."
Savi felt a rush of warmth. "Thank you. But I wouldn't have gotten this far without you."
Rajat's expression turned serious for a moment. "Just remember, no matter what happens, I'll always be proud of you. You've worked so hard for this."
Savi looked into his eyes, feeling a mixture of love and longing. "It's just... the waiting is killing me. I keep questioning if I'm good enough."
"Hey," he said softly, reaching for her hand. "You are more than enough. You've got this, Savi."
As the night deepened, the air between them grew charged with an undeniable tension. Savi could feel her heart racing, a mixture of nerves and desire building within her.
"Let's head back to my place," Rajat suggested, his voice low and intimate. "We can continue our evening there."
Savi nodded, feeling a thrill of excitement. They packed up the picnic quickly, their movements hurried by anticipation. The drive to Rajat's apartment was filled with stolen glances and playful touches, the tension between them building with each passing moment.
