The campus buzzed with the energy of students rushing to their classes, but Savi felt like she was moving in slow motion. After days of silence, a heavy weight had settled on her heart, and the more she thought about Rajat, the more she realized how crucial he was to her happiness.
Determined to make things right, Savi adjusted the straps of her backpack, her pulse quickening as she approached the familiar spot near the library where she often found him studying. She spotted Rajat sitting at their usual table, his brow furrowed in concentration over a stack of textbooks.
As she walked closer, a surge of emotion swelled within her. She had missed him—the way he made her laugh, the warmth of his smile, and the comfort of their shared moments. It felt as if the air around her crackled with tension, yet anticipation thrummed beneath it.
Savi stopped just a few feet away, her heart racing as she gathered her courage. "Rajat."
He looked up, his expression shifting from focused to surprised, and then to a mix of relief and concern. "Savi?"
The moment stretched between them, and without another thought, she closed the distance, urgency driving her forward. Before she could second-guess herself, she leaned down and kissed him hard, pouring all her pent-up feelings into the embrace. Rajat was taken aback for a moment, but he quickly responded, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer.
When they finally pulled apart, both breathless, Savi's eyes shimmered with emotion. "I'm so sorry for everything," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've been overwhelmed with everything—my studies, my family... and I took it all out on you. I shouldn't have lashed out like that."
Rajat searched her face, his expression softening as he processed her words. "I understand," he replied gently, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "We're both under a lot of pressure. It's okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes. I shouldn't have let it get to me either."
She felt a weight lift off her shoulders at his forgiveness. "I just missed you so much. I realized how important you are to me, Rajat. You've always been there, and I can't let my fears push you away."
He nodded, his gaze locked onto hers. "I've missed you too. It's been hard not talking, not knowing how you were feeling." There was a sincerity in his voice that made her heart flutter. "But we can work through this together."
Savi felt a warmth spread through her chest at his words. "I want us to support each other, to be there for one another without losing sight of our goals. I don't want to be the reason you feel like you have to pull away."
"Neither do I," Rajat replied, a soft smile breaking through his earlier tension. "We can figure out a way to make it work, to find a balance between our dreams and our relationship."
The sincerity in his eyes made her heart race. "What if we set aside time each week just for us? No distractions, just... us. And we can still keep up with our studies. We're both dedicated to our futures, but we shouldn't have to sacrifice our relationship in the process."
"That sounds perfect," he agreed, a genuine smile spreading across his face. "I'd love that. I want to support you in your IAS preparation and be there for you when things get tough."
Feeling a wave of relief wash over her, Savi reached for his hand, intertwining her fingers with his. The warmth of his touch sent a shiver of excitement through her. "Thank you for being so understanding, Rajat. I really appreciate it."
"Always," he replied, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "And don't hesitate to let me know when you need to talk or if you're feeling overwhelmed again. I'll always be here to listen."
Savi smiled, feeling a sense of security settle within her. They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, letting the intimacy of the moment wrap around them like a soft blanket.
Suddenly, an idea struck her. "How about we celebrate our reconciliation with a little adventure this weekend? Just something fun, to take our minds off everything for a bit."
"Adventure?" Rajat raised an eyebrow playfully. "Are you suggesting something spontaneous? I'm intrigued."
Savi grinned, feeling her excitement bubble over. "Maybe a day trip? We could visit that new café outside of the city, or even take a walk along the beach. Just a chance to escape our routine."
"That sounds amazing," he agreed enthusiastically. "I could use a break from the books, and I can't think of a better person to spend it with."
Savi's heart swelled at his words. "Then it's a plan. Just us, no stress, just fun."
As they continued to hold hands, the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow around them. Rajat shifted closer, his shoulder brushing against hers, and the comfortable closeness sent a thrill down her spine.
"You know," he said softly, "I'm really proud of you. You're working so hard for your IAS exams, and it's inspiring to see how dedicated you are."
She felt a warmth flush her cheeks at his compliment. "That means a lot coming from you, Rajat. You're doing great with your law studies too. I admire your drive. We're both pushing ourselves, but it's easier knowing I have you by my side."
He leaned in slightly, his breath warm against her ear. "Together, we can conquer anything. You're stronger than you think, Savi. And I'll always be here to remind you of that."
Feeling a rush of affection, Savi turned her head slightly, capturing his gaze. The intensity of the moment wrapped around them, and she could see the flicker of emotion in his eyes. "You have no idea how much that means to me," she whispered, feeling utterly exposed yet safe in his presence.
Rajat smiled, his eyes shining with sincerity. "I'm just being honest."
As the last rays of sunlight faded into twilight, Savi leaned in and pressed her lips against his again, this time softer, a lingering kiss that conveyed everything they had been through and all that lay ahead. Rajat responded with equal tenderness, and they shared a quiet moment of reconnection, surrounded by the world but lost in each other.
When they finally broke apart, Savi rested her forehead against his, both of them breathing heavily from the rush of emotion. "I missed this," she admitted, her voice barely a whisper.
"Me too," he replied, his thumb gently caressing the back of her hand. "Let's make more time for these moments."
As they sat together under the fading light, Savi felt a renewed sense of hope and determination. They were stronger together, and with Rajat by her side, she knew they could navigate whatever challenges lay ahead.
"Here's to new beginnings," Savi said, raising their intertwined hands slightly, a smile breaking through the weight of the past few days.
"To new beginnings," Rajat echoed, his eyes sparkling with warmth.
They both knew the road ahead wouldn't be easy, but for the first time in a while, Savi felt ready to face whatever challenges came their way—together.
