Chapter 19

Kyler's POV.

(August 9, 2018 - 12pm)

It is my final song release day and it is also me and Kylie's birthday party tonight. Kels and I haven't really talked, but I have been trying to reach out constantly. The last text I got from her was on the same night of our fight and it was her saying "things aren't working out, sorry." I practically broke down, had a panic attack, and cried myself to sleep that night, but I was honestly lost. I needed someone who cared, but it seemed like she just needed somebody there.

Things escalated in ways that it shouldn't have and I was willing to talk things out. I ended up explaining everything to Stass that night because I was practically having a panic attack at her door. She told Kylie who of course came straight to her house where she explained what happened to me. They've both been trying to help me out, but nothing seems to be working.

Since then, I've just been writing and working, only really talking to my family and artists that I've got schedules with. I heard around the grapevine that Kels was talking to Marshmello again, but I honestly just didn't care anymore. It doesn't help that I've been working with him and his phone constantly goes off during our music sessions. At one point, he did answer a call and then left the studio quickly saying he needed to do something. Probably Kels at this rate.

But, I need to ignore that. Today is all about me, and Kylie, but I need to focus on me. Kylie has been celebrating for the entire week, but I opted to just celebrate tonight and tomorrow. Kylie told me a lot of people were invited and apparently Kels asked to bring a +1, which I had no idea about until yesterday during our final party preparations, but it's whatever. I'm fine...

I called mom early this morning about a song change for today's song release. After venting to Stass and Kylie, I drove straight home and kept myself in my studio for 3 days, only going out to get food. Within those 3 days, I wrote a song about being betrayed in a relationship, which in hindsight, is gonna bite me in the ass, but it's what I was feeling. I just need to move on because if she wasn't willing to fight for us, then why should I bother fighting for nothing?

Kendall got to my house last night after hearing what happened during our call in the afternoon, although she did hear a bit from Kylie since us three tell each other almost everything. She wanted to stay with me to keep me company and to accompany me to the party since Kylie had mom and Stass to accompany her.

The sit-down dinner at Craig's was happening at 6pm, but I opted to skip out and just hang out with Kendall. Our party, or the neon nirvana, starts tonight at 8pm at Delilah's in West Hollywood and lasts until the early morning which is gonna kill me so I'm hoping I could leave early. A lot of people were invited like our family friends, Kendall's model friends, and some artists I've worked with. Granted, not everyone we know is coming, but I think it'll be cool.

As I look over my outfit in my closet, I start to fidget with my fingers unknowingly, picking at the skin around my fingers. As I get into my head, I don't hear Kendall come in and call my name a bunch.

KENDALL: "Baby boy!" She grabs my face, making me look up at her. "Hey, Kyler, what's wrong?" She pulls my hands apart and kneels in front of me worried.

KYLER: "I don't want to go tonight. I don't want to do this right now. I can't do this Kenny." I put my head down as tears started to come up. "There's just too much to deal with..."

KENDALL: "Kyler, look at me." I look at her with teary eyes. "It is your day today and I will be right next to you the entire time, I promise you. I want to celebrate my baby brother and sister and it's a huge night for you. A new song, a new age, I know this is a lot, but Kylie and I are going to be there for you whenever you need us. Okay?" She wipes the tears off my face and smiles lightly. "Forget all of your problems for tonight and just relax okay?"
