"I haven't seen Silvia for ages," you commented, lying lazily in Silas's room. The pile of textbooks around you remained open with neat answers written in them — you were taking a break from the mind numbing problem solving. You had managed to recover well after a couple of days, and while Silas had rushed to celebrate your birthday, Silvia was skittish and seemed to scuttle away whenever you tried saying hi to her.
"Yeah," Silas said cheerfully, "me neither."
"She said she would be there to celebrate my birthday though," you frowned. "And she was so eager to give me her birthday goodies, too. But now she avoids me like the plague."
"Were you bothered by her absence?" Silas furrowed his eyebrows. "Were you upset when she wasn't there for your birthday celebration?"
"...Upset, huh..." you trailed off. "I don't know."
"You don't have to lie to me," Silas added unhelpfully.
"Oh, hush." You rolled your eyes, "I don't know what's your whole deal with Silvia. She's a harmless girl who's the same age as you."
"That's even worse," Silas muttered.
"Maybe this is enemies to lovers," you suggested, "Kate really likes novels, and one of the tropes she mentioned was —"
"Y/n," Silas interrupted rather harshly, "there is no romance between Silvia and me."
"Oh geez, I was joking," you laughed, "calm down. I was just teasing you, that's all."
"...I know."
"But it is strange, don't you think? That she disappeared all of a sudden. Well, I still see her around, but she's hardly visiting us anymore. In fact, she's stopped completely."
"Maybe she got the hint," Silas suggested again.
You gave Silas a look. "When I was sick, she was upset that I would have to wait a little longer to taste the desserts she baked. And now I'm well and back to normal, but Silvia's gone. I assumed that she was going to visit me with a tray laden with goodies the minute I recovered from my sickness."
Silas shrugged. "I don't know."
You narrowed your eyes. "You didn't do anything, right?"
"No," Silas looked at you, affronted. "I was with you the whole time."
"Right. Oops. Sorry," you gave a long sigh. "But it just feels weird without her."
Silas bristled at that. "Weird without her? But the norm is the two of us, Y/n, not —"
