It took Talia a few seconds to process the sentence.

“Marry?! Are you serious?”

“It couldn’t be more serious, my dear.” He smiled.

“You must think I’m really stupid for agreeing to marry you.” She laughed, unable to contain herself. “I’m not stupid, Beetlejuice, I’m really not.” She noticed his shudder. “Beetlejuice?”

“No, without my name babes.” Despite the smile on his face, she couldn’t help but see the anger.

“... Beetlejuice.”

“No, fuck!” He said, deteriorating until he disappeared.

Talia was confused for a few seconds. She quickly got up and went to the attic. There in the model was a completely angry Beetlejuice.

“So that’s how you make you leave.” She laughed, while he frowned.

“Come on babes, we can solve this, just say my name, come on we can have a lot of fun, weren’t we already doing that?”

“I certainly won’t, I’ve never been happier than I am right now.” With that, she gets up and leaves.

“My love, you know I was joking, right? We don’t have to get married, I promise you, we can just have sex.” He quickly saw her snort. “Or we can cuddle, come on, come back!”

Talia went down to the attic with a radiant smile on her face. Today she would definitely have a good night’s sleep.

22 days later…

Talia drank her coffee while checking the plant again.

“How many times have you checked this plant?” Lydia drank her tea while reading a book she found in the attic. Talia couldn’t help but be alarmed with her there, but thank God nothing happened.

“I just want to make sure nothing’s wrong.”

“You’ve been focusing too much on this these past few days.”

“I’m not.”

“Yes, you are, I can see you spending most of your time thinking about the office and nothing else.” Talia noticed the sad tone. “You only get like this when something is happening.”

“Nothing is happening.”

Yes, it was happening. She strangely missed Beetlejuice. Despite the short time, she had gotten used to the random scares and the invasion of space. Now, there was nothing.

She shouldn’t miss a ghost that tormented her with his scares and dirty jokes. This was completely crazy.

“We may have spent a few years apart, but I know you.”

“Okay, something is happening.” Lydia gave a victorious look. “But, you don’t need to know for now, do you want to go with me to check out the land where I’m going to build my office?”

“I’ll stop by.”

Talia smiled and got up to go to the car.
