Carolyn and Betty share breakfast together while Rebecca engages them in conversation about the musical. However, Betty dampens the mood by expressing her frustration over Martin not responding to her texts. Meanwhile, Carolyn receives a reply from her boyfriend, prompting Betty to inquire how she manages to have so many friends and romantic interests. Carolyn advises her to adopt a similar approach to socializing. Just then, Angel honks his horn, signaling Carolyn to leave her house and get into his car, after which he drives them to school. At school, Betty rummages through Carolyn's closet, singing an acoustic version of "This Is Me" as she selects preppy outfits. When she arrives at school, she attracts attention and receives compliments, even from her sister, who recognizes the clothes. Betty spots Edward, shares a kiss with him, and they discuss her new look and her plans to break up with Martin. She asks for some time, assuring him that it will happen soon. As the bell rings, Betty makes her memorable entrance, joining her three close friends. They catch up on their lives, but Marie quickly shifts the focus back to herself, blaming her sister for various issues before walking away. The new student, Arnold, approaches Betty and asks her to direct him to the biology class. In response, she exclaims, "Are you seriously that clueless?" Heather looks at her in shock. Betty then walks away, leaving Heather to guide Arnold to the classroom. As they walk, Heather introduces herself and later returns to confront Betty, dragging her into the bathroom for a heated discussion. After Heather's outburst, she exits, leaving Betty to gaze into the mirror, where she sees Carolyn's reflection instead of her own, before stepping out of the restroom. During lunch, Betty enters the cafeteria, where the Plastics invite her to join them, while Heather, Kelly, and Marie observe from a distance. Martin approaches Betty and kisses her, prompting Heather to feel envious. She stands up and performs a song titled "Who's Got What It Takes," which earns her applause from the crowd, and she beams with pride. Later, Betty attempts to catch the Plastics' attention by accidentally bumping into another student in the hallway. The Plastics laugh, and Angel invites her to join their group. Betty agrees, and they proceed to do their iconic five-way walk, with Heather, Kelly, and Marie watching closely. A girl named Aliyah is confronted by Betty, who derogatorily refers to her as a "monkey." In response, the Plastics rally around Aliyah, asserting that they are not racists, leading to Carolyn expelling Betty from their group. The remaining four Plastics then proceed with their signature walk. Meanwhile, Heather heads to the bathroom when Martin surprises her from behind, and they share a conversation and a kiss. After their moment, she continues on her way. Later, Heather is seen in her room watching "Euphoria" when Martin unexpectedly jumps through her window, catching her off guard with another kiss. As their intimacy escalates, she halts him when his hands venture too far. Martin reacts angrily, accusing her of teasing him, and when she insists he leave, he threatens to leak her private photos if she doesn't comply, leaving her in tears over his cruel ultimatum. The following day, in the school auditorium, the next performance features Angel and the other performers preparing for the "Too Cool" number, with Angel taking the stage to deliver the song. After school, Heather discovers that Martin has saved her private photos, leading her to block him and react angrily. Martin then visits Betty's house, where they discuss their relationship, and he serenades her with "Gotta Find You." As she imagines him as Edward, she kisses him. In Martin's garage, he, Joseph, and Benjamin perform "Play My Music," accompanied by montages of everyone preparing for the play. Meanwhile, Ashley practices her song at home, singing "Here I Am," as montages highlight various relationships. The scene shifts to her on stage, delivering her performance. Once she finishes, the Plastics cheer for Ashley, praising her outstanding performance. Tristian is called to the stage next, prompting Angel to perform "Two Stars," where he reenacts scenes from the movie. Following his act, the group performs "Hasta La Vista," and then it's Betty's turn. Just before she goes on stage, Martin receives a text from an unknown number that reads, "So you're really just gonna leak them?" Betty opens the message, reads it, and tears up before her performance of "This Is Me" with Martin. Afterward, they all come together to perform "We Rock."
