"Shit! My head hurts, and I think I’m going to throw up—" I didn’t even finish the sentence before I actually did. I felt so weak and embarrassed.
With one eye half-closed, I could hear Mikhyle quietly cursing under her breath.
It made me laugh, even though I felt horrible. Pft, ang cute ng pagiging mapasensya nya HHAHAHAHAH ever since Bub.
After a short while, I felt the soft cushion of the couch beneath me as she gently helped me sit down.
Her care made me feel safe, even in my messy state. Hindi pa din nag babago. 'Kaya sayo ako Lim eh.'
“Manang, please clean this up. I’ll take Ayiah upstairs,” I heard her say, her voice calm but clearly concerned.
Both my eyes were close when I felt her arms lifting me up carefully.
There was something comforting about her presence, even when I felt so unsteady.
"Sige, ingatan mo anak ha." Manang said gently. I smiled, but my eyes filled with tears. I hadn’t heard Manang’s voice in years, and I missed her deeply.
“Iingatan ko na po,” Mikhyle replied softly. Her words made me suddenly open my eyes, and through the blur, I saw her warm smile. It stirred something in me, and despite the dizziness, I couldn’t help but feel a little happy.
Bakit ngayon lang?, bakit hindi pa noon Khyle?, Pwede naman pala ingatan bakit mas pinili mo pang hayaan na lang?
My heart tightened, reminding me not to get my hopes up. I knew it could lead to pain. Again.
“Put me down, I can walk!” I protested, trying to sound strong, but she only held me more securely. Her silent care made me feel both frustrated and touched, aaminin ko na miss ko sya."What the hell, Mikhyle! I have legs, I can walk!" I grumbled, but she didn’t respond.
She just kept carrying me until we made it into the bedroom. I felt helpless, but part of me didn’t mind.
“Toothbrush, some essentials, and even your old clothes are still here—”
“Get out!” I shouted, cutting her off. Damn Ayiah, saan ka humuhugot ng kakapalan ng muka na sigawan sya?
My stomach churned again, and I rushed to the bathroom, only to trip and fall hard. I felt even more pathetic. 'Pft, C'mon ayiaahhh HAHHA', Natawan na lang talaga ko sa sarili ko.
“Damn it, Rajiah!” she yelled in frustration, quickly coming over to help me. I could feel her patience wearing thin, but she still gently helped me up.
Even though she was upset, her touch remained soft, and I felt her care despite everything.
She guided me to sit on the bed, and I felt ashamed of myself. I was a mess, and she was having to deal with me.
“I… I need to wash my face, brush my teeth, clean my body, and change my clothes… Mikhyle,” I mumbled, slurring my words. I couldn’t stop trembling.
I felt fragile, like I was falling apart.
I didn’t know why, but I suddenly wanted to cry. Everything felt too heavy, and I couldn’t control it.
“Fine, I’ll help you,” she said, offering her hand. I took it, feeling her gentle grip as she helped me stand. “I’ll grab some clothes for you,” she added before stepping out of the room.
Her absence left an odd emptiness behind.
When I saw my old toothbrush and the other essentials still there, a wave of memories hit me.
