The Increasing Of Feelings

As the days passed, something began to shift inside little Jungkook. He couldn't quite put a name to it, but whenever Jin was around, it was like his world became more vibrant and chaotic all at once. Jungkook started to feel a whirlpool of emotions that he had never experienced before—emotions he couldn't control or understand.

At first, it was subtle. He found himself always wanting to be around Jin, following Taehyung everywhere just to catch glimpses of Jin in the hallways, during breaks, or at lunch. He’d hover silently near Jin, watching the way he smiled, the way his eyes sparkled when he talked to Tae or his classmates. And then there was the way Jin would casually ruffle Jungkook's hair, smile warmly, and call him cute. It sent Jungkook into a flustered mess every time.

The more Jin interacted with him, the more Jungkook felt... something. It wasn’t just the happiness of being around someone kind. No, it was deeper than that. Every time Jin smiled at someone else, Jungkook felt an unfamiliar pang in his chest—like a strange mix of anger and sadness. He didn’t like seeing Jin be so friendly with others, especially with Tae. It made his small hands clench into fists, a knot of frustration tightening in his stomach.

One afternoon, while Jin was laughing with Tae over something silly during lunch, Jungkook sat across the table, silently watching. His grip tightened on his juice box, and he muttered under his breath, glaring at Tae’s easy camaraderie with Jin. Why did it bother him so much? He liked Tae, didn’t he? He’d always looked up to his older brother. But now, whenever Jin and Tae were together, Jungkook felt like he was being left out, like something was slipping through his fingers.

That night, lying in bed, Jungkook stared at the ceiling, his mind racing. He felt confused—angry, sad, and weirdly happy all at once. He didn’t know what to do with these emotions, but he knew one thing for sure: he wanted Jin's attention all to himself. That warm, fluttery feeling he got when Jin focused on him, called him "cute," or hugged him was something he wanted more of.

He rolled over in bed, clutching his blanket, frowning at the thought of Jin spending time with anyone else but him. Why was Jin so important? Why did he feel like this? It didn’t make sense, but Jungkook didn’t care. All he knew was that Jin made him feel special, and he wasn’t ready to share that feeling with anyone else.

From that moment on, little Jungkook vowed to stick close to Jin. He didn’t want to admit it, but he was starting to get possessive. The thought of Jin being with anyone else made his heart ache, and though he didn’t quite understand why, he was determined to keep Jin's attention on him as much as possible.

Jungkook sat at the table, rolling his eyes in boredom, doodling mindlessly in his notebook. His mom had been scolding him for what felt like hours now, her voice rising with every complaint about his disinterest in school.

"Jungkook, you need to take your studies seriously! How will you pass your exams if you don’t even try?" Mrs. Jeon snapped, pacing in front of him.

Jungkook just sighed, not paying much attention, when the door to his room creaked open slightly. He heard a familiar voice that instantly made his heart skip a beat.

"What's going on in here? Auntie, are you scolding my Jungkookie baby again?" Jin entered the room with a playful grin, ruffling Jungkook's messy hair as he walked over. Jin loved teasing Jungkook, treating him like a little brother, calling him affectionate nicknames that made Jungkook’s heart swell. Jungkook didn’t mind, though; in fact, he loved it. Jin was the only one he allowed to call him such names.

Mrs. Jeon sighed in relief at Jin’s presence but threw her hands up in frustration. "Jin, honey, you're spoiling him too much! He won’t study at all, and his exams are coming up. I thought going to school would help, but he hasn't improved at all. He just doesn’t want to put in any effort."

Jin tilted his head, his eyes narrowing in mock seriousness. "Is that true, Kookie baby? You’re not studying? Why don’t you want to study?" He asked, crouching down beside Jungkook, his hand still gently messing with Jungkook’s hair.

Jungkook stared into Jin’s eyes, feeling that familiar flutter in his chest. He honestly replied, "It's not interesting..."

Jin hummed, thinking for a moment before a playful grin spread across his face. "Hmm, well, what if I help you? I can make it interesting for you. What do you think?" He winked, confident in his ability to turn things around.

Jungkook blinked at him, feeling a sudden rush of excitement. Jin helping him study? That was all he needed. He couldn't resist anything Jin offered. He didn’t care what it was anymore—if Jin was involved, it was automatically something he wanted to do. His face lit up, and he nodded eagerly.

And just like that, Jungkook had found yet another reason to look forward to studying... because now, with Jin's help, it was suddenly the most interesting thing in the world. He was determined—he’d ace all his exams, no doubt about it.

The day the exam results were released, the Jeon household was in utter disbelief. Mrs. Jeon stared at the report card in her hands, her eyes wide with shock, while Mr. Jeon nearly choked on his tea. Taehyung stood there, frozen mid-bite of his breakfast, mouth hanging open.

"This... this can't be right," Mrs. Jeon muttered, flipping through the pages again, searching for some mistake.

"Did... Did he actually pass? Not just pass, but... Jungkook did well?" Mr. Jeon said, leaning over to check the grades again.

Taehyung, shaking his head in disbelief, snatched the report card from his mother's hands, looking at it like it was some kind of alien artifact. "No way," he muttered, scanning the grades. "Jungkook never gets scores like this... How did he even...?"

It was nothing short of a miracle. The kid who used to barely scrape by, who avoided school like the plague, had suddenly scored impressive grades in every subject. It was as if a switch had flipped in him, and now, Jungkook had turned into an entirely different student.

Mrs. Jeon sat down at the table, stunned. "Jin," she whispered. "It must’ve been Jin's doing. He worked wonders on him."

Just then, Jungkook walked into the room, a quiet but proud smile on his face. He casually tossed his bag onto the chair and looked at the report card now in Taehyung’s hands.

"I told you I'd do well," Jungkook said, acting like it was no big deal. But the truth was, his heart was swelling with pride, knowing Jin had helped him get there. He didn't care as much about the grades as he did about impressing Jin. That was the real victory.

Mrs. Jeon stood up and pulled Jungkook into a hug, much to his embarrassment. "I'm so proud of you, my Jungkookie," she exclaimed, ruffling his hair. "I knew you could do it if you just put in the effort."

Jungkook squirmed out of her grasp, his face turning slightly red. "It wasn’t just me..." he mumbled. "Jin hyung helped a lot."

Taehyung smirked. "So that's what it took, huh? A little motivation from Jin hyung."

Jungkook shot him a glare, but he couldn’t help the small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Yes, Jin had been the motivation, and he couldn't wait to show Jin his results... and see that proud smile again.
