When Jin came to visit the Jeon house that evening, he headed straight for Jungkook's room. He found Jungkook sitting on his bed, his report card already in hand, as if waiting to show it off.
Jungkook's eyes lit up when he saw Jin walk in. He couldn't wait to show his hyung the proof of his hard work. With a proud grin, he held up the paper.
"Look, Jin hyung," Jungkook said, almost bouncing in place. "I did well, just like I promised!"
Jin took the report card, glancing over the scores with an approving smile. He wasn't surprised-he had believed in Jungkook from the start. But seeing it all laid out before him still filled him with pride.
"You did so good, Kook," Jin said, ruffling Jungkook's hair. "I'm so happy for you. I knew you had it in you." Jungkook's heart swelled. Jin was the first person who had ever truly believed in him, even before he believed in himself.
"And... because you worked so hard, I got you a little something," Jin added, making Jungkook tilt his head in curiosity.
Jin smiled as he pulled out two chocolate bars from his bag. "Tada!"
Jungkook blinked, staring at the chocolates. Normally, he wasn't that interested in sweets, but because Jin had given them to him, it felt different. He couldn't stop the smile that spread across his face, feeling a warmth bubbling inside him.
But then, Jin took something else out of his bag-a notebook. Jungkook's eyes widened as he saw it. It was a sketchbook, but not just any sketchbook. The cover was beautifully designed with a cloth pattern, something that looked intricate and special.
"I know how much you love drawing," Jin explained, holding it out for Jungkook to take. "So I made this for you while you were taking your exams. I designed the cover myself. How do you like it?"
Jungkook stared at the sketchbook in awe. His hands trembled slightly as he took it from Jin, his heart racing. It wasn't just a notebook or a couple of chocolate bars-these were treasures. Gifts that Jin had put thought and effort into, just for him.
"They're perfect," Jungkook finally whispered, his voice a little shaky. "Thank you, hyung."
Jin chuckled, patting Jungkook's head again. "I'm glad you like them, Kook. You earned it."
For Jungkook, the sketchbook and the chocolates were far more than simple gifts-they were symbols of Jin's belief in him. That was what mattered the most.

.Fifteen-year-old Jungkook stood outside his house, adjusting the cap on his head as his hair fell over his forehead, obscuring his intense gaze. He wasn’t the same wide-eyed, soft kid he once was. Years had passed, and with each year, Jungkook had grown colder, more distant, hiding his emotions behind a stoic exterior. His family had noticed the change, but none could pinpoint the cause.
No one knew that the reason for both his hidden smiles and silent pain was the same person—Kim Seok Jin.
Today, like every time, he had something important to show Jin. Clutched tightly in his hand was his result card from the latest exams. He had scored the highest in his class, and the first person he wanted to show was Jin, as always. Jin was the one who had encouraged him to work hard, who believed in him when no one else did.
But as Jungkook approached, his heart pounding in anticipation of seeing Jin’s proud smile, he froze.
There, not far from him, stood Jin—leaning against Taehyung, his hand resting on Taehyung’s chest as they laughed at something together. They were close, far too close for Jungkook's liking.
