The next day brought a tense atmosphere that neither Jin nor Taehyung could shake off. They both seemed lost in their own worlds, preoccupied with their respective crushes.
Taehyung sat at the breakfast table, his excitement barely contained as he awaited Jimin’s arrival. Each passing second felt like an eternity, his anticipation growing stronger with every moment.
Meanwhile, Jin sat across the table, stealing glances at Jungkook, who lounged casually with his legs crossed, a smirk playing on his lips. The way Jungkook looked at him made Jin feel shy and embarrassed, a warm flush creeping up his cheeks. He fidgeted with his sleeves, avoiding Jungkook’s intense gaze, feeling the heat radiate from the other boy. It was as if the air between them was charged, thick with unspoken words and unacknowledged feelings.
Amidst this quiet tension, Mr. and Mrs. Jeon were busily preparing to leave for a project, their chatter creating a backdrop of noise that went largely ignored. Mrs. Jeon expressed her desire to see Jimin before they left, her excitement palpable.
Just as she finished her sentence, the front door swung open, and Jimin stepped inside. He looked vibrant and cheerful, wearing a white hat adorned with a cute bow that accentuated his childlike charm. His loose-fitting white shirt and knee-length pants gave him an innocent appearance, complemented by the backpack slung over one shoulder.
“Good morning, everyone!” Jimin exclaimed, his voice bright and full of enthusiasm. He greeted Mrs. Jeon with a warm smile, making her beam with pride.
Taehyung stood, his heart fluttering as he watched Jimin. Just the sight of him filled him with a joy that made his earlier concerns melt away. He couldn’t help but smile back, his eyes sparkling with affection.
But then, in a sudden turn, Jimin rushed forward and wrapped his arms around Jungkook, catching both Jin and Taehyung off guard.
“Jungkook!” Jimin beamed, pulling him into a tight hug. “I missed you!”
Jin felt his heart drop. The warmth that had filled him moments ago vanished, replaced by a sudden pang of jealousy. He had been so lost in his own feelings that he had almost forgotten about Jimin’s close friendship with Jungkook. The way Jimin clung to Jungkook, his smile wide and carefree, sent a sharp jolt of insecurity through Jin.
Taehyung felt it too, his expression faltering as he watched the scene unfold. His excitement dimmed slightly, replaced by a sense of annoyance. “What about me, Jimin?” he mumbled under his breath, though it was more to himself than anyone else.
Jungkook, initially surprised, quickly returned the embrace, a playful grin spreading across his face. “Missed you too, Jimin,” he replied, his voice warm and teasing.
Jin shifted uncomfortably in his seat, feeling a mix of emotions swirling within him—confusion, jealousy, and a lingering hope that maybe, just maybe, Jungkook’s gaze would turn back to him. But for now, he felt invisible, watching as the connection between Jimin and Jungkook deepened before his eyes.
Taehyung, meanwhile, tried to mask his annoyance. He chuckled lightly, nudging Jin with his elbow. “Looks like we’re both forgotten, huh?” he said, trying to lighten the mood, though a part of him couldn’t help but feel left out.
Jin forced a smile, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Yeah... I guess so.”
As Jimin finally released Jungkook from the embrace, he turned to the rest of the group, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “So, what’s everyone up to today?” he asked, completely oblivious to the tension simmering in the air.
Jungkook leaned back in his chair, his expression relaxed yet attentive. “Just hanging out. How about you?” he asked, looking at Jimin with a smile that Jin felt was reserved just for him.
