Unknown location on  Secluded Road: Same night at 11:45pm.

Tanishq sat in the driver’s seat of his sleek black Mercedes Maybach, the soft purring of the engine the only sound on the quiet, secluded mountain road. The dark night was illuminated by the full moon, casting a silver glow over the forested valley below. His sharp eyes scanned the road ahead, unease coursing through him.

Arav, seated in the passenger seat, was on the phone with his mate Kaya, his calm voice reassuring her that he’d be late. The tension in the air was palpable, though, as Tanishq drummed his fingers on the wheel, eyes narrowing at the deserted road.

From the opposite side, headlights appeared in the distance, growing brighter as a dark blue BMW XM approached. The car came to a stop a few meters away, and from the passenger side, Rudra stepped out, his face grim. Yuvaan remained behind the wheel, while Ishaan, ever unpredictable, leapt from the roof of the car, landing nimbly on his feet.

Tanishq didn’t bother getting out. Instead, he rolled down the window, allowing the cool night air to mix with the tension in the car. Rudra and Ishaan approached, their faces tense as they came to stand just outside his window.

“They’re werewolves. It’s confirmed,” Rudra said, his voice low but certain.

“They’re werewolves. It’s confirmed,” Rudra said, his voice low but certain.

A growl rumbled deep in Tanishq’s throat, a flash of anger that even the darkness couldn’t conceal. Arav’s gaze hardened as he looked at Rudra and Ishaan, both of whom seemed uneasy under the weight of their Alpha’s displeasure.

“We scented them, and two of them shifted right in front of us,” Ishaan added, his tone clipped. “Both males. Looked like Betas.”

“Betas?” Tanishq’s voice was edged with confusion. His brow furrowed as he considered the possibility. Something didn’t add up.

“Are you sure ?” Arav asked, his voice calm but authoritative, cutting through the tension. “Their wolves were huge?”

“Yes,” Ishaan replied, frustration evident in his tone. “And their villa has humans too.”

“They shifted in front of humans?” Arav asked sharply, his usual calm demeanor cracking with irritation.

“No,” Rudra interjected. “There were humans around the villa, but not when they shifted. We heard bells—something from the villa itself.”

Tanishq’s gaze hardened further. “And the females?”

“None of them shifted,” Rudra responded.

Tanishq’s eyes narrowed. “What does that mean? Are they both pregnant?” Arav asked, his patience wearing thin.

“How would we know that?” Ishaan snapped. “We weren’t inside the villa. But one of them jumped from the terrace. We could see fire lights from a distance, like they were performing some ritual.”

“You told us not to shift or attack because of the possibility of pregnant werewolves,” Rudra reminded, his voice softer now, aware of the rising tension.

“They were only observable from the road,” Rudra explained. “All we know is that something was happening at that villa.”

Tanishq's jaw clenched. This was a direct challenge to the Dun Pack’s authority.

“Did they see you two?” Tanishq’s voice was sharp, the tone of an Alpha who wouldn’t tolerate mistakes.

Both Rudra and Ishaan shifted nervously. “Yes,” Rudra replied, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Fucking dumb idiots!” Tanishq growled, the air around him crackling with anger. His hands tightened around the steering wheel, and Arav saw his Alpha’s hands slowly morph into claws as his control slipped momentarily.

“Leave,” Arav ordered, his voice firm, cutting through the growing tension. Rudra and Ishaan didn’t need to be told twice. Rudra hurried back to the BMW while Ishaan quickly unbuttoned his shirt, tossing his clothes into the back seat. In one swift motion, he shifted into his wolf form, a sleek, muscular wolf racing into the forest along the valley.

Their car roared to life and sped off, leaving Tanishq and Arav in the silent moonlit night. The tension hung thick in the air, but it was broken by the sudden ringing of Arav’s phone. Tanishq glanced at the screen—Samar.

Taking the phone from Arav, Tanishq answered it with a curt, “Betas. That’s what they are.”

“What’s the plan?” Samar’s voice came through the speaker.

“Increase patrols in the region. Keep an eye on them,” Tanishq ordered before abruptly ending the call and handing the phone back to Arav.

“How many werewolves do we have in the college?” Tanishq asked, his mind already shifting to the next phase of their strategy.

“As in students?” Arav questioned.

“Employees,” Tanishq clarified, his voice low and measured.

“None,” Arav replied, understanding his Alpha’s growing concerns.

Tanishq’s eyes darkened with realization. They had wolves stationed in various positions throughout the region, but none in the colleges. A gap in their control.

“Induct them into the college,” Tanishq said, his tone decisive. “Send one to the college canteen as an employee. Or can we buy the tender entirely?”

Arav thought for a moment. “Depends when the current contract expires,” he replied.

“Do something,” Tanishq growled, the edge of command clear in his voice. “Also, send someone into the admin department. From now on, we monitor every student who takes admission there. Every move.”

The college had a central administration for all three colleges—an oversight that Tanishq intended to correct immediately.

The plan was set, but the night’s events left an unsettling weight on the air, the full moon casting long shadows over the valley. The challenge had been issued, and Tanishq knew this was only the beginning.
