Dun Pack House:

Tanishq sat in his office, the sharp sound of his voice cutting through the otherwise silent room as he spoke into the phone with Sameer, the manager of their Mussoorie resort. His tone was firm, bordering on impatient.

"No, I want the preparations done urgently," he commanded, pacing slowly behind his desk. "The event is important. We’re expecting more guests than usual. The conference will host foreign nationals—this is good for business." He paused, glancing at his computer screen, waiting for a response. "Send me the reservation details via email."

Across the desk, Arav sat quietly, waiting for Tanishq to finish. His beta had a calm, patient demeanor, though his eyes were focused, ready for the conversation ahead.

"Make it happen," Tanishq concluded, hanging up the phone.

Arav leaned forward slightly, meeting Tanishq’s eyes. "I called Rinnay pack’s beta."

Tanishq's brow lifted in anticipation. "And?"

"They verified their story," Arav said, his voice steady.

Tanishq’s expression twisted slightly, a look of disbelief crossing his face.

Arav continued, sensing his alpha’s hesitation. "The beta, Vaibhav, even said that their Alpha is willing to give a written statement that they won’t cause any problems for us."

Tanishq exhaled sharply. Trusting others came hard to him, especially when they were hiding something. Though Rinnay pack had helped Dun pack during the war with the Xian pack fifty years ago, their long absence from any meaningful contact left Tanishq wary.

“They’re lying about their identities for sure,” Tanishq muttered, his fingers drumming lightly on the table. “But since they’re willing to give it in writing, they’re not our concern anymore.” He sounded frustrated but resigned.

Arav nodded. “I’ll make sure to get the written confirmation from them.”

Tanishq leaned back in his chair,

He trusted the Rinnay pack's word. They had been allies once, a long time ago—nearly fifty years ago, during the war with the Xian pack. But times had changed, and fifty years without contact was enough to raise suspicions.

Arav saw an opening. "Maybe now we can focus on the Luna situation?" he suggested, his tone hopeful.

Tanishq’s mind wandered. He found himself thinking about Priyal—the girl with the deep brown eyes and flowing hair. He could still remember the way her presence had unsettled him.

Arav’s voice cut through his thoughts. "It’s important for the pack."

Tanishq blinked, snapping back into the moment. "You're listening, right?" Arav asked, narrowing his eyes slightly.

"Yes, Luna... we need to find a Luna," Tanishq said, but his voice lacked conviction.

Arav studied his alpha, sensing something was off. "Are you stressed about the event at the Mussoorie resort?" he asked.

Tanishq hesitated for a moment before nodding, "Yes, a bit," he lied. His mind was far from the conference. He couldn’t stop thinking about Priyal.

Before Arav could leave, his phone buzzed with a call from Kaya, his mate. He picked up, answering briefly, "Yes, I’m coming."

Just as he stood to leave, Tanishq spoke again. "Arav," his voice carrying a hint of nonchalance, "do you really think that girl... Priyal... is the delta's daughter?"

Arav paused, raising an eyebrow. "I don’t know, frankly. All I know is that they won’t be a problem, and the Rinnay pack can give us that assurance in writing."

Tanishq nodded, but his mind was elsewhere.

Arav looked at him intently. "We have to search everywhere," he reminded him. "We already have permission from the packs in Myanmar and Bhutan. If we don’t find a Luna there, we can continue searching elsewhere."

Tanishq nodded in agreement, but his thoughts kept drifting back to Priyal. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get her out of his mind.

She’s not our mate, Tanishq reminded himself sternly. But the thought felt hollow, and the image of her refused to fade.
