The villa at Naini: Next day in Afternoon.
The living room was a mess—papers and clips scattered across the floor, dining table cluttered with more documents. The printer hummed steadily, churning out more pages of the lycan records Uncle Arjun had sent over the phone. Priyal and everyone in the villa were engrossed in scanning the documents. Daksh was working on the laptop, positioned on the dining room table, searching for information on Tanishq. The screen displayed the website of Tanishq’s resort in Naini, with several links revealing other resorts he owned, including the one they had visited inside Jim Corbett.
Vyom sat cross-legged on the floor with Priyal, both of them rifling through the records. “This is a waste of time,” he grumbled, frustration etched on his face. “These records are from fifty years ago.”
Priyal shot him a sharp glance. “We need to see them. The more we know about their history, the better we can connect.”
The records were old because the Dun Pack had had no connection with them for all these years. Ranveer sighed, stretching his limbs. “We need an office. We can’t work like this,” he said, cracking his bones as he lounged on the couch, skimming through the papers related to the Northern Agreement.
Maya entered, carrying a plate of muffins, which Vyom immediately lunged for. “I needed these!” he exclaimed, grabbing a muffin before she could set the plate down. She placed it on the dining table and headed into the kitchen to prepare coffee.
Arihant had to leave for the hospital soon; it was his final year of MBBS internship, and skipping was not an option. Maya wished he could stay, but they all understood that the hospital would be teeming with humans, and wolves wouldn’t confront them there.
Daksh turned the laptop screen towards Priyal, who leaned in closer. “Look! Tanishq is an hotelier and the Alpha.”As Priyal looked at the photo, she felt a flutter of intrigue. The male in the picture was undeniably handsome, with light brown hair and captivating blue eyes. She snapped a screenshot, suddenly realizing that Daksh was talking to her. He pointed at his phone, displaying a photo of another male. “I think this might be his Beta.”
“Unlocked profile?” Priyal asked, raising an eyebrow.
“It’s not his; he’s tagged in the photos,” Daksh replied, scrolling through the images.
She scanned the screen, noting two females and three males, including Tanishq. “Who’s Kaya?” she asked.
“I don’t know,” Daksh admitted. “But look at the photos.”
He clicked on a link, revealing more details about Tanishq’s resort management. Priyal noticed the location was Jim Corbett Resort, and her curiosity piqued further. “Is his ID public?”
“Yes,” Daksh confirmed, “but it’s mostly professional.”
Priyal pulled out her phone to search for his Instagram, where she found a few pictures, mostly promotional material for the resorts or seminar photos. It struck her as odd that there were no females in any of the images. I guess he’s single, she mused silently.
Ranveer approached the table, reaching for a muffin. “This alliance treaty is still in force—at least on paper.”
Priyal took the file from him, intrigued. “Which means that legally, we can be in college.”
Vyom, still seated on the floor, interjected, “According to this old map, this isn’t exactly their territory.”
“Unless they expanded in these years,” Daksh countered.
Priyal furrowed her brow. “But they aren’t happy and will definitely ask questions.”
“We can’t reveal anything about our pack,” Priyal insisted.
Vyom shrugged. “So we lie. Just throw out any pack name.”
Maya returned with a tray of sandwiches. “They’ll start verifying if you throw out any random pack name,” she warned, setting the tray down.
Priyal gave her a grateful smile. “Thanks. You should rest,” she told her, watching as Maya reluctantly sat down.
“They witnessed your wolf shift in midair,” she admonished Vyom, her voice laced with anger. “That means they’re aware that you are ranked wolf.”
“We need to lie better,” Daksh said firmly, a determined glint in his eye.
Suddenly they heard the small silver bell rung, drawing their attention. They looked up to see a cat outside. A silver chain encircled the perimeter of the villa, with tiny bells attached, serving as a protective measure.
“Looks like we’re safe for now,” Priyal said.
