Dun Pack House: Arav and Kaya's room Same Afternoon.
Arav's POV:I stepped into our room, with constant hum of pack issues and Tanishq's frustration ringing in my head. But all that started to fade the moment I saw her.
Kaya.
She was sitting by the window, folding clothes, lost in the quiet rhythm of her movements. The soft afternoon light streamed in through the glass, casting a golden hue on her skin. Outside, the thick greenery of the forest stretched far beyond, but inside, everything felt peaceful, familiar. This room-our room-was like that. Simple, homey, filled with small touches that made it ours. It wasn't grand, but it was where I could finally breathe.
I watched her for a moment, my wolf stirring at the sight of her. The feeling never got old. Two years since we mated, and yet, the bond between us was still as strong as ever. My wolf purred inside me, pleased, calming the restlessness that had been eating away at me all day.
Kaya must have sensed me because she looked up, catching my eye immediately. Before I could even say anything, she stood up, ready to head toward the kitchen. "You haven't eaten lunch yet," she said, her voice gentle, already thinking about me.
I couldn't let her go just yet. I reached out, catching her hand, and pulled her back toward me. "Wait," I said softly, the warmth of her skin grounding me in ways nothing else could. Her hand fit perfectly in mine, as it always did.
She turned to face me, concern flickering in her eyes. "You're stressed," she murmured, her fingers trailing over my arm, trying to soothe the tension she knew I was carrying. I nodded, not even bothering to hide it. There was no point with Kaya. She saw through me, always.
"Yeah," I admitted, pulling her closer until she was pressed against me. "But you help. You always do."
Her lips curved into a small smile, but I could see something else in her expression too. It was subtle, but I'd picked up on it before-the flicker of a thought she hadn't voiced yet. I kissed her forehead, letting my lips linger there, feeling the warmth of her skin beneath them. Kaya's hands rested on my chest, her touch so familiar, so right.
When I kissed her, it was slow at first, a gentle reminder of what we had. The bond between us hummed, growing stronger with every heartbeat. Two years since we'd mated, and still, every kiss felt like it was laced with the same intensity as the first. Kaya leaned into me, her fingers curling around the back of my neck, and I let myself get lost in her for a moment.
When we broke apart, I could feel the question lingering between us. She wasn't pushing, but I knew it was there. And then, softly, she asked, "Do you think we'll ever... have a pup of our own?"
Her voice was so quiet, but the hope in it was enough to stop me in my tracks. I held her gaze, feeling the weight of what she was asking. We hadn't talked about it much, but I knew how much she wanted it. I wanted it too.
I cupped her face with my hand, brushing my thumb over her cheek. "I want that too," I whispered, and I meant it. "It will happen, Kaya. The Moon Goddess will bless us when the time is right."
She searched my face, her eyes softening as she leaned into my touch. "I hope so," she whispered back, and then she kissed me again. This time, it was more intense, more urgent. I could feel her need, her desire, and my wolf responded instantly, the bond between us crackling with energy.
I kissed her back, deeper now, my arms wrapping around her tightly. The stress from earlier evaporated, replaced by the familiar pull of our connection. My wolf rumbled in my chest, satisfied to have her close. Kaya's body pressed against mine, and I could feel the heat building between us, the unspoken understanding of what came next.
We pulled back, just for a second, our breaths mingling as we stood there, forehead to forehead. Everything else faded away-the pack, the stress, the uncertainty. All that mattered was this. Her. Us.
I led her toward the bed, my hand still gripping hers as I kissed her again, and I knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, we'd face them together. For now, though, this moment was just for us. The future, the pup we both longed for-it would come. But for now, I had everything I needed right here in my arms.
