Jimin hyung suggests that we make breakfast together.
Once we're in the kitchen, I glance at the chaos laid out on the counter: rice, seaweed, canned tuna, and a random assortment of vegetables. "Are we really making tuna kimbap?" I raise an eyebrow, trying not to laugh at how random this is.
"Why not? It's quick, easy, and I've been craving it!" Jimin hyung replies, practically bouncing with excitement.
"Alright, let's do this," I chuckle, grabbing a bowl to mix the rice with sesame oil. Cooking with Jimin hyung is always a chaotic adventure. It's like we're on one of those cooking shows where everything goes wrong, but somehow, it works out in the end.
I can hear Taehyung's voice drifting in from the living room, entertaining Minseo with his latest collection of "random facts."
"Did you know that honey never spoils? They found pots of it in ancient Egyptian tombs that are over 3,000 years old and still edible?" he says, sounding totally serious.
"Seriously?" Minseo sounds both amused and slightly disgusted. "That's... kind of gross, actually."
"Oh, come on! It's fascinating!" Taehyung insists. "Imagine eating something that old. It's like a time capsule in your mouth!" His tata mic face is here, and Minseo scrunches up her nose as she giggles.
"I'm sure Minjun will love you," she says, "he's my little brother. He's really into these kind of random facts."
"I wanna meet him!" Taehyung squeals. Minseo giggles, "Yeah, I'll think about that."
I shake my head, grinning as I hear Minseo laugh. She fits in so well with them. I love that she's comfortable here.
After a few chaotic minutes of Jimin hyung accidentally spilling rice everywhere and me laughing too hard to help, we finally get the kimbap rolled and ready. Jimin hyung sets the table with our tuna kimbap and a few bottles of soju and some ramen I made, and we all gather around, still chuckling at our morning shenanigans.
"Okay, who's ready to feast?" I announce, smiling at Minseo, who looks genuinely happy. Just as I'm about to dig in, there's a sudden knock at the door.
"Who is it gonna be at this hour? It's literally 10am?" Jimin hyung raises an eyebrow, and I shrug, standing up to answer it.
I swing open the door to find Namjoon hyung, standing there with that calm, collected vibe of his. "Hey, guys! Hope I'm not interrupting anything," he says, stepping inside and instantly making the atmosphere feel brighter.
"Hyung!" I smile, "You're not. I wanna introduce you to someone." I say and he walks in. Minseo stands up and I introduce them, "Namjoon hyung, Minseo. Minseo, Namjoon hyung."
As soon as Namjoon hyung spots Minseo, his face lights up like it's Christmas morning. "It's so good to see you! I'm really glad you're here."
Hell yeah! Even Namjoon hyung likes her. This is going perfectly!
"Jungkook's been a little smitten since he met you," Namjoon hyung adds, a teasing glint in his eye. "He came to me whining about how he couldn't write music because he was heartbroken. I knew something was up."
He did? Well he knows me better so I don't complain.
I can't help but giggle, feeling a warmth spread through me. "Hyung, that was one time!"
Namjoon hyung chuckles and walks over to the table. "I'd love to join you for breakfast if you don't mind."
"Of course! Pull up a chair," I say, gesturing for him to sit.
We all settle around the table, and as I serve Namjoon hyung some kimbap we made, I can't help but notice how easily he and Minseo click.
"So, what's your theory on life?" Namjoon hyung asks, leaning in with genuine curiosity.
Minseo pauses, considering her words. "I think a lot about the choices we make and how they shape our lives. Like, how every small decision can lead to something big, you know?"
Namjoon hyung nods, clearly interested. "I get that. I often wonder about the impact of our actions and how they ripple through time. It's fascinating."
I watch them talk. This is perfect. Everyone's getting along, and it feels like a family.
"Did you know that time is just a social construct?" Taehyung pipes in, completely clueless about the depth of their conversation. "I mean, what if we're just all living in a simulation, like in The Matrix?"
I burst into laughter while Minseo and Namjoon hyung exchange amused glances. "Okay, that's... definitely a theory," Minseo says, trying to keep a straight face.
Namjoon hyung chuckles, "It's a fun thought, but I think we're living in reality, even if it can feel like a simulation sometimes."
I lean back in my chair, feeling content. I really miss Jin hyung right now. He'd love Minseo too. He'd probably spoil her with all his cooking skills and dad jokes.
As we continue to eat, the laughter flows freely, and I can't help but think about how perfect this moment is. Minseo, laughing; Jimin hyung trying to out-fact Taehyung; and Namjoon hyung keeping everything grounded. It's chaos, but it's our chaos, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I love this. We're all just here, enjoying life together. Who knew breakfast could be this fun?
And as I look over at Minseo, her eyes sparkling with laughter, I know this is just the beginning of something special.
