26. Vocalracha / seungin

Summary : jeongin is feeling overwhelmed and hurt by the harsh teaching methods of his vocal coach, after taking drastic measures to improve another member of the vocal team steps in to help.

"From the top, take it again because that didn't sound right"

Jeongin cleared his throat before adjusting his head set.

Currently jeongin was alone in the practice room with his vocal instructor, his practice had been set to end at around three, however it was now nearing six o'clock.

after finishing his lines the instructor seemed visibly frustrated as he set his head in his hands, frustration and even anger pouring off from him.

"Jeongin, we've been over this, your upcoming performance is the first time you'll be performing your solo song live, meaning none of the other members can be there to make you sound better."

Jeongin shamefully let his eyes fall to the floor, feeling tears well up in the corners of his eyes.

"Not the tears again, I'm hired to help you sound better, honestly for this shit I should have a much higher wage. Im done for today but I should insist you stay longer and work on that song, to be frank it sounds terrible and if I sit here any longer my ears will bleed, if I were you I wouldn't leave this studio until your voice can't take it any longer"

And with that his instructor threw his copy of the lyrics to the floor before grabbing his bag and slamming the door shut behind him.

Jeongin couldn't help but flinch as the door slammed, now feeling incredibly awful about his session today jeongin decided to stay behind like his teacher suggested.

It was hard to hold back the tears after holding them in for so long, all the comments and disgusted or uninterested looks from his teacher had really hit hard.

For the past week there had been a lot of pressure on his shoulders for this performance, at first he figured it was the pressure and stress getting to him which made his voice a little shaky, but based on his teachers reaction he felt he wasn't talented enough in general.

And so he stayed, he practiced and practiced as the hours went by, only putting a stop to it when his voice grew raspier from the overuse.

"Wow your back late, what'd you do? Fall asleep in the studio again?"

Jeongin could only manage a half smile in return before making a beeline to his room, only just missing the shared look from the members in the living room.

Although jeongin simply wanted to spend the rest of his night alone he realized that wasn't happening fairly quickly.

Seungmin was currently lounging in their shared bedroom, scrolling aimlessly on his phone as jeongin walked in.

"Hey- what's wrong?"

Jeongin couldn't help but smile at the immediate attention from his boyfriend, he always knew jeongin so well, to the point where it came as no surprise on how quickly he noticed his change in behaviour.

"Oh I'm fine, just a long day that's all"

Seungmin didn't seem pleased with his short response, he didn't push on it though and instead made room for him on their bed, tapping the space next to him as a subtle hint to join him.
