Just a few more minutes.
Jeongin felt as if his body was ignited by fire, whether it was the adrenaline rush, or the overstimulation from the stage.
He wasn't quite sure.
The audience roared with cheers and hollers, lights flashing from below for stage effects, the sound of heavy footsteps from the back up dancers hit his ears.
His breathing had picked up as the performance went on, the track playing in his ear becoming more distant by the second.
His body worked entirely on autopilot, the dance a second nature, the song imbedded in his mind.
So where did it all go wrong?
Was it the endless hours spent practicing until he couldn't any longer, or the sleepless nights spent anxiously anticipating their performance?
Could he be sick or ill? Was it the common flu circulating around or maybe his body disagreeing with what he ate that day....
Wait.... When was the last time he ate something? Or drank enough water to ease his throat?
He couldn't remember.
And now it all made sense, the way his adrenaline wore off faster than a light switch, the way he felt his head grow cloudy and unresponsive, his body acting on its own with what little energy he had left.
The song was coming to an end, he could hold on.... Just a little longer.
He spared a glance at the other members, who looked like gods in his eyes.
Sure they looked sweaty and drained, but they hardly showed it..... they danced like it was nothing, every step and movement executed with the same high energy.
His eyes sparkled with wonder as he stared, taking note of every powerful step or movement, even their voices held strong as they sang, not once did their voices waver like his did, or fail to hit the notes he struggled to learn.
And then he was running.
They ran and pushed themselves to the end of the stage, executing the final moments of their performance.
By now it felt like he wasn't inside his own body, like he was watching from afar.
He danced and danced, his blood pumping with every second, his heartbeat in his ears, his throat tight and constricted, muscles sore and painful, body tired and achy, mind wavering...... eyes watering...... veins pumping.....
Heartbeat beating.....
Breathing heavy....
Body failing.....
Skin sweaty.....
And then it all stopped.
They froze in the final position, his arms held high alongside the others.
As if his body zoned back into the present time he suddenly became all aware of everything at once.
Listening to the loud roaring and clapping from the crowd, the music now ended, the spot lights shining brightly down on them.
