Today was a day I had imagined countless times through wishful daydreams and sleepless nights. Siddharth—the love of my life, was meeting my father to ask for my hand in marriage.

I walked around our house, fidgeting with my hair and adjusting my dress, replaying every scene in my head as I awaited his arrival.

"Breathe, Sridevi," I whispered to myself, a smile creeping onto my face as I finally stepped into view.

The moment I laid eyes on Siddharth, my heart skipped a beat. He turned to me, a reassuring grin on his lips, as if to say, "Everything will be alright."

The meeting began with casual pleasantries, my father's rich voice filling the room as he spoke about his experiences as a professor. Then, as if sensing my moment of nervous anticipation, Siddharth cleared his throat, his expression shifting to something more serious.

"Sir, thank you for taking the time to meet with me today. I know we have maintained the relation of student and lecturer, but I wanted to speak to you today as someone who holds dear your daughter, Sridevi."

My father nodded, gesturing for him to continue.

"I happened to meet Sridevi in Delhi. In fact she is the one who looked after my sister's wedding. I've gotten to know Sridevi over time," Siddharth said, his eyes sparkling with affection,

"and I must confess, she has enchanted me completely. Her kindness, her intelligence, her laughter—it lights up even the darkest days. I realize that these are merely words, but it is the truth of my heart. I wish to marry her, sir, to build a life united by love and respect."

I couldn't help but blush; this was the essence of Siddharth. He spoke with honesty and passion, attributes that I had always admired in him.

Siddharth continued, "I understand that as a father, you wish to protect her and ensure she's taken care of. I want to assure you, sir, that I will always take care of her. I may be a pilot, but I promise to be grounded when it comes to love. I've watched her embrace life, pursue her dreams, and support those around her. My love for her is not just about the moments we share, but about building a future where we can encourage each other to grow."

The room fell silent. My heart pounded in my chest, and I looked at my father, who sat quietly for a moment, assessing.

After what felt like an eternity, my father spoke,

"You speak well, Siddharth. But remember that love is a journey, not a destination. It requires patience, understanding, and unwavering support. Are you ready for such a commitment?"
