Nothing beats having a best friend.-Hanna
Books are getting boring. Hanna tries to read but can not focus. Strange how she manages to get straight As with all these distractions. One day, it was social media, another day a hot date, it never ends. When she tries to study, she has visions of Selena shaking her body at the club in front of her. What a sight. You could see you could feel, but you are never gonna touch. Selena is her best friend, and she tells her that she loves her all the time. But could she be more than that? Hanna wants to find out, to test Selena's limits.
Outside, the rain is pouring, and Hanna is blasting teenage dreams by Katy Perry. It makes her feel so happy, listening to that song. Selena comes back from a run, sweat is dripping off her, and she is still panting. She turns off Hanna's music and stares at her meaningfully.
"Did you forget what today is?" Selena asks.
"Random Tuesday.  I'm so exhausted from doing our homework. Unless you have other plans?"
Selena rolls her eyes exasperated. "Today is my birthday. And you're doing too much studying. You smell like rotten books, girl, get a shower."
Hanna gasped,"You are right! How can I forget?"
"Really, no surprise presents?" Selena pouts her lips.
"Well, not if you keep texting those guys."
"Texting who? It's only my mom I'm talking to recently." Selena says innocently.
"Okay. 1, 2 3-"
The light goes dark, and then a firework starts outside the window. And a giant cake shows up when the lights go back up.
"Happy 23rd birthday!" Hanna says.
"Thank you! I'm so happy right now!" Selena squeals.
Hanna looks at her friends smiling face and feels so happy herself. Selena has a glow to her that no one else has. Hanna can't help but admire her. She wipes Selena's cream stained face and feels her heart swells for this moment. Could this be love? She has never loved someone like she loves Selena. But can she be loyal to somebody other than herself? Bieber used to say, Selena is that New York Times easy Sunday morning, but he left her sad and alone. Hanna doesn't want to see Selena's heart break like that again. But who's gonna take care of her? Who's gonna laugh with her, cry with her now that Bieber is gone? Hanna knows she is not ready to be the one. She is not able to love so intensely, but she hopes one day she can. Because Selena needs her, only her.
