Abhiman’s bua beamed with happiness when she saw him at the entrance. “Abhiman beta, itna waqt lag gaya tumhe aane mein!” she said, hugging him tightly. But when her gaze shifted to Jeevika, the smile faltered slightly. Though she greeted her politely, Jeevika could feel the subtle disapproval in her eyes.

Abhiman and Jeevika bent down to touch bua’s feet for blessings. She gave them both her blessings, but the warmth was noticeably directed toward Abhiman. Jeevika felt a slight heaviness in her chest but managed to keep a polite smile.

“Jeevika, chalein?” Abhiman said softly, sensing her discomfort as they moved inside the beautifully decorated house, adorned with flowers and lights.

As soon as they stepped inside, Abhiman’s parents and siblings had already arrived and were heading to their rooms to rest. “Chalo, hum bhi fresh ho jaate hain,” Abhiman suggested as they entered their room.

Jeevika, feeling a bit more relaxed, started changing into a saree. While she was adjusting her pleats in front of the mirror, Abhiman came up behind her. Without saying a word, he slipped his arms around her waist and placed a soft kiss on her neck.

“Abhiman,” she whispered, blushing deeply, her heart fluttering. He smiled against her skin, watching her cheeks turn pink in the reflection of the mirror.

“Tum bohot khoobsurat lag rahi ho,” he murmured, his voice low.

Jeevika couldn’t help but smile shyly. “Bas karo, koi dekh lega.”

“Dekhne do,” he teased, letting her go reluctantly as they both freshened up and headed downstairs to join the rest of the family.

Later, Jeevika was sitting with Abhiman’s sister, chatting about the wedding preparations, when her ears caught bua’s voice. She was speaking to Abhiman’s mother in a low tone, but loud enough for Jeevika to overhear.

“Jeevika itni buri nahi hai,” bua said, her tone neutral, “Lekin meri dost ki beti hoti toh zyada achha match tha Abhiman ke liye.”

Jeevika felt a sting of hurt, but before she could react, Abhiman’s mother quickly shut her down. “Didi, Jeevika bohot acchi ladki hai. Hum sab usse bohot pyaar karte hain, aur Abhiman bhi. Tumhe bhi usko samajhne ka waqt lena chahiye.”

Jeevika’s heart swelled with happiness, knowing her mother-in-law stood up for her. She smiled to herself, feeling a sense of belonging that was slowly taking root.

She was busy helping with some arrangements when suddenly, she froze. A familiar figure was walking through the door—none other than Jiya.

Jeevika’s eyes widened in shock. Yeh yahan kaise? she thought, her mind racing. Jiya, her best friend from her past life, stood there, smiling as though nothing was wrong. But Jeevika knew better. This was the same Jiya who had betrayed her in her previous life.

A cold shiver ran down her spine as she watched Jiya approach, unaware of the storm brewing in Jeevika’s mind.
