The large conference room of the Kim mansion was filled with people, but instead of the usual air of intensity surrounding these meetings, tonight was different. The meeting had devolved into a gossip session, much to the dismay of some attendees. Jaehyun, Mr. Kim, Bogum, Jackson, Jin and namjoon were the only ones trying to stay focused while the rest, consisting of Jungkook, Taehyung, Jimin, J-Hope, Irene, Jinyoung, Suga, and Irene's cousin Felix, were laughing and having a good time.
Namjoon sat next to Jin, watching the lively group across the room. He smirked and leaned closer to his friend. "Look at them, acting like teenagers. The future of the family, huh? You'd think they were at a slumber party, not a strategic meeting."
Mr. Kim sighed, removing his glasses and rubbing his temples. Despite his disappointment, there was a small bubble of happiness within him. It wasn't often that everyone was together, sharing a moment that wasn't clouded with tension or secrets.
"I guess it's good they're bonding," Mr. Kim mused. "But it's hard to be optimistic when the future of the family rests on them."
Jin chuckled, his eyes flicking to the gossiping group. "We might be in trouble, uncle."
Across the room, Suga remained quiet, eyes focused solely on Jimin, who was busy talking animatedly with Irene and Felix. Irene was laughing loudly at whatever joke Jimin had made, clearly enjoying herself.
Taehyung sat at the edge of the group, only sipping water, as he caught Jungkook's gaze, smirking at him.
Little did anyone know, J-Hope had spiked everyone's drink, except Taehyung's. With Jimin's mischievous help, J-Hope had managed to slip a little alcohol into the coffee cups, wanting to "lighten the mood." What had started as a serious meeting quickly descended into laughter and teasing, with the alcohol quietly taking its toll.
Jackson, exhausted from three nights of sleeping on the couch after his fallout with Irene, was slouched in his chair. He rubbed his eyes and groaned, glancing at the clock. "God, I think we should stop. I just want to sleep."
Jungkook, who was sitting beside Jackson, laughed, his cheeks flushed. "You and me both, hyung."
Irene smirked, raising an eyebrow "Ahhh, so you're his sofa mate?"
Jackson, without missing a beat, muttered under his breath, "Mind your own business, bitch," but the moment he did, he looked up and locked eyes with his father, Mr. Kim, who was watching him intently.
Clearing his throat, Jackson sat up straighter, trying to play it off. Jungkook, stifling a chuckle, nudged Jackson in the ribs. "You're really testing your luck tonight, hyung."
Mr. Kim glanced at the group, looking mildly amused yet concerned. "This meeting is over. Everyone can disperse," he said, waving his hand dismissively.
Jaehyun, Bogum, and Jin immediately stood up to leave, their business minds already focused on the next tasks at hand. Jackson, on the other hand, was distracted by his phone, caught up in something else.
Jin glanced back at Felix, who was still giggling with Irene and Jimin. "Let's go, idiot. Come on."
Felix blinked, "five more minutes."
Before Jin could respond, J-Hope jumped up and threw his arms around Felix, hugging him tightly. "Nooo, hyung! Don't take him! He's sleeping here with me tonight!"
Jin rolled his eyes, grabbing Felix by the arm. "Yeah, no. He's coming with me. You've had enough fun for tonight."
J-Hope clung harder to Felix. " hyung! Please.....!"
Jackson glanced over at the drama"Great," he muttered under his breath. "My home is practically a frat house these days."
Jungkook laughed, throwing an arm over Jackson's shoulder. "It's like we're back in college, isn't it, Jackson?"
Jackson shot him a death glare, prompting Jungkook to slowly remove his arm. "Are you drunk, bastard?"
Jungkook giggled, not taking the glare seriously. "Maybe just a little," he said with a mischievous smile before leaning in for a quick hug.
Suga, who had been focused on his phone, looked up and chuckled at the scene. shaking his head in amusement as he returned to his screen. The lightheartedness of the room made the tension seem a world away.
Taehyung watched as everyone unraveled into chaos. It was messy and loud, but amid the plotting and revenge, moments like these reminded him of what family was supposed to be-full of laughter and togetherness.
His eyes caught Jungkook, who was wasted and laughing at Jimin's lame jokes. Suddenly, a faint movement occurred in his stomach, a sensation that had become a regular thing for some time, reminding him of the life growing inside him. The feeling became more constant with each passing moment. Jungkook's laughter pulled him in again; he was definitely drunk. Their eyes met, and Jungkook raised his eyebrows in a teasing manner. Taehyung couldn't help but smile back at him, a warmth spreading in his chest as he embraced the moment.
