I wake up on my stomach, the soft sheets cradling me, and immediately notice that my shirt is hiked up, leaving my back exposed to the cool air. Confused and still half-asleep, I blink into the dim light of the room, trying to make sense of my surroundings.
Two figures are whispering nearby, their voices low and conspiratorial. One of them is sitting right on my ass, and the other is perched beside me on the bed, glancing back and forth between me and his companion. My heart races as I slowly process the situation.
"What the–" I start to say, but before I can finish, something cold brushes against my back. I wince instinctively, the chill causing me to shiver.
The two guys freeze, their eyes widening in realization. "Oh! We didn't mean to wake you!" the one on my back says quickly, sitting a bit further down, clearing his throat in embarrassment. The other, who was sitting beside him, chuckles nervously.
"What are you guys doing?" I mumble tiredly, trying to keep my voice steady despite the sudden awkwardness. Yunho, on my back, continues to put the cold substance on my back, and then I remember what I have there.
Less than innocent marks from a certain scene.
Before they can answer, I hear Seonghwa's voice carrying through the hall, loud and animated. "Wooyoung! No matter how horny you are, you don't just whip our maid! SHAME!"
I can't help but giggle at the unexpected hilarity of the situation. It's been some time since it happened, so the marks are probably old by now, but the sentiment is still there.
The two guys exchange glances, a mix of amusement and chagrin on their faces. "Sorry about that," Yunho says, kneeling beside me now and carefully placing a salve on my back. "We didn't mean to intrude. Just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"Yeah, sorry," Jongho adds with a soft chuckle. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm feeling better," I reply, smiling at their concern. "I slept really well, thanks to Mingi."
Jongho raises an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eyes. "You two were cuddling up all night, huh?"
"Shut up," I say, playfully shoving him but missing, my arms too heavy. "You're just jealous."
Yunho grins, putting more salve on my back, and I appreciate the gentle care. "We just wanted to make sure you're alright. You were really stressed the other day."
"Yeah, I know," I say, my mind drifting momentarily back to the chaos of my life. "But I'm getting there. I think I just needed a little... comfort. I'll tell you guys about why I was like that soon."
"You don't have to if you don't want to, but we'll listen" Jongho replies.
"Why are you guys up already?" I ask, sitting slightly up on my arms.
"Yeah, Mingi said he turned off your alarm, saying how you needed the sleep, so we went to dance practice in the mean time," Yunho explains.
"I hope we're done soon with the album," Jongho mumbles, clearly already very tired by his schedule. I hope they aren't overworking themselves. Wouldn't surprise me if they are.
Yunho pats my back, putting down my shirt carefully, getting up from his spot.
"Now, come on! Let's get you up!" Jongho says, reaching out to help me sit up. As I do, I feel the warmth of the morning sun streaming through the window, and the remnants of sleep begin to fade away.
I glance at Yunho and Jongho, feeling grateful for their unexpected kindness. It's moments like this that remind me how much I appreciate their friendship. As we begin to discuss breakfast and what the day holds, I feel a renewed sense of hope. Maybe everything will turn out okay after all.
