"Khi! Hurry up, you're gonna miss him!" Kari shouted from the living room. It was currently the night before their college graduation.
Two years had gone by in a flash. Every day in college felt like a drag, but now that she'd finally made it to May, she could not believe she was about to graduate. Unlike their sophomore year, junior and senior year had been wholly uneventful.
Kari found herself leaning into her more social side as her friends continued to to take her out for every homecoming and every party they could convince her to attend while Mekhi had become more like his younger self and became more reserved. He went out less, unless Sakari requested him to join of course, and he found himself in his dorm more often than not.
Their friends at school noticed that their personalities had kind of swapped, but everyone at home knew it was like they were just resetting back to their childhood selves.
Khi had also found himself struggling as he began clinicals. His focus was starting to become more and more of a problem as his responsibilities increased, and it was becoming frustrating to say the least. After a lot of internal battling and discussions with his parents, and Sakari, Khi had decided to get back on his medication. School wouldn't get any easier and work would only get more intense as time went on.
This time, Khi went to a new doctor with his concerns about his past medication and the side effects that had him refusing to take it any longer, and he was prescribed a completely different medication that wasn't harmful at all. It actually worked very well for him and he was enjoying his job, his clinical rounds and school as a whole so much more.
Both Mekhi and Sakari had started their jobs in the early months of junior year. Khi as a certified nursing assistant at a local urgent care and Sakari as a teaching assistant at their school for her favorite child psychology professor. As promised, they both put some money to the side every check and they were starting to get surprised at how much they had saved in two years.
All in all, Sakari would say that college had treated the couple well, and now it was all coming to an end. Tomorrow they would be walking the stage and beginning a new chapter of their adult lives far away from the people they had lived with for the last four years.
Kari har already cried when she and Jelani packed their dorm up for the last time. She cried again at the last dinner she'd had with the girls, and she held back tears two nights ago when the whole group had gotten together one more time before Traeveon's flight.
Speaking of Traveon.
Sakari and Mekhi currently were snuggled up under a blanket in the living room of the suite their parents had booked for the families stay, as they were all flying back to Houston in two days. They sat comfortably as the commercials ran, and excitedly sat up once they ended.
"Oh shit there he go!" Khi shot up, immediately taking pictures of his best friend on the television.
Khi had played football with Trae all the way through school, and Trae had finally decided how he wanted the rest of his life to go, which was why his friends all sat in various locations in North Carolina while he was in Las Vegas at the NFL draft.
