Once everyone was inside the house, the group began to look around for any sign of the owners. Or better yet, the full-sized rich candy that was promised (through the rumors).
"Alright, where's the jackpot?" Casey asked, looking around.
"If it's not by the front door, then where else could it be?" Mars asked.
"This doesn't feel right at all." Callie said. "Maybe we should turn back?"
"Don't worry, it'll all be done once we find that stash." Casey said. "I feel it's close."
"I'm starting to think that there is no stash." Elexa said.
"Well, we did here it from a couple of random teenagers." Mars said. "And we know they like to make stuff up for the hell of it."
"Yeah, I have experience with that." Jake said.
"Yeah, I'm starting to have second thoughts." April said. "Let's get out of here, Casey."
"Alright, whatever." Casey said. "It was nice to look around for a short time."
The group then made their way back to the door to see that it had shut behind them. Douxie then tried to open it, but just like the gate before, it wouldn't open. Almost like it had locked itself from the outside.
"Fuzzbuckets. . . it won't budge." Douxie said.
"Did you try jiggling the doorknob?" Gracie asked.
"Maybe try using a spell." Makayla said.
Douxie nodded as he went to activate his magical bracelet to summon his staff, but it didn't do anything as his charm bracelet seemingly died as soon as it was activated.
"Bloody hell. . ." Douxie said, as he hit his bracelet, trying to get it to work. "Why won't this blasted thing work?"
"Okay. . . so Douxie's magic is useless in here." Raph said. "Anyone else have any ideas?"
"I could try using my powers." Makayla said. "But if my hunch is correct, there's some sort of blockade that's preventing us from using any supernatural or magical powers."
"Even supernatural powers, huh?" Jake asked. "So, my powers are even useless in here, too "
"Oh no. . . we're trapped!" Callie said, as she began to panic a bit. "There's no way out! We're gonna die in here!"
"Hey, hey. . . everything's going to be okay." Donnie said, placing a hand on Callie's shoulder to reassure her. "We'll get out of this place for sure. We just have to stay focused."
Callie looked up at Donnie and then at his hand as a faint blush appeared on her face.
Donnie also blushed as he cleared his throat. "What's the plan, fearless leader?" He asked, turning his attention to Leo.
"I. . . I don't know." Leo said. "Maybe there's another exit somewhere. We just have to find it."
"That's it!" Mikey said. "We just need to look for a window or maybe a back door!"
"The windows are a no-go." Douxie said. "They're boarded up. Even if we could reach up to one, any attempt to break out that way would be pointless."
"Surely not, though?" April said. "Everyone, let's form separate groups. We'll all look around for a potential exit."
"Good idea." Donnie said. "We'll form four groups, with each of us being a part of it, so we can contact each other with our T-Phones."
"That is, if there's service in here." Raph said.
"That's fine if there isn't." Donnie said. "The T-Phones were made specifically to have unlimited service anywhere we go."
"How are you paying for that?" Casey asked.
"Alright, so let's form our groups." Leo said. "I'll go ahead and take Mars, Jake and April."
"Fair enough." Jake said.
"Donnie, you can take Callie, Gracie, and Casey." Leo said. "Raph, you can take Makayla and Douxie. Mikey, you can take Shane and Elexa."
Everyone nodded in agreement as the groups were now set.
"Wait, is no one mentioning how this could end badly?" Douxie remarked. "I mean, we're splitting up in a potentially haunted house. Isn't that just asking for bad things to happen."
"Now, that's where you're wrong." Mikey said. "If this was a horror movie, then it'd be bad to split up. But this just a haunted mansion. Nothing bad can happen here."
"I can't tell if you're an idiot or you're really good at speaking in satire." Douxie said.
"Alright, team. Let's move!" Leo said. "Remember to stay on track and look for an exit!"
"Hai, Sensei." Raph said, in a sarcastic tone.
With that said, everyone went their separate ways to investigate different parts of the mansion. Surely this will end good, right?
SPOILER ALERT! It never does.
