After the urgent call from Donnie, everyone had made their way back to the front door where Casey had gone missing, according to Donnie. And everyone was just as confused as the rest.
"So, let me get this straight. . ." Raph said. "You were put in charge of having Casey on your team and you just lose him immediately?"
"I had him check the front door again." Donnie said. "He's the one who made a big deal out of checking it again."
"He has to be around here somewhere." Mikey said. "Maybe he's just trying to prank you."
"Well, you are Sir Prankenstein." Mars said. "If anyone knows a well-thought prank, it's you."
"Alright, let's look for him together." Leo said. "Clearly, splitting up was a bad idea."
"Oh, you think?" Callie said, sarcastically.
"Where should we look first?" April asked.
"Okay, I was wrong." Leo said. "Maybe we should split up again. But in two groups this time."
"You're really going for that again?" Raph asked.
"We'll never find Casey if we're all together." Leo said. "It will take too long. Plus, we still need to find a way out of here."
"Well, if Leo says so, then we should." Jake said. "Don't worry, we'll make sure no one else goes missing on our watch."
With that said, the team split into two groups, rather than four this time to minimize the chance of someone suddenly going missing again. This time, it was a mission to find Casey as well as finding a way to escape.
The first team was Leo, Raph, Jake, April, Makayla, and Mars. And the second team was Donnie, Mikey, Douxie, Callie, Gracie, Elexa, and Shane.
They each went their separate ways, which included Team Leo to go back into the basement. Mars then activated her powers once again to light the place up.
"So, why are we back down here?" April asked.
"That shadow you saw earlier." Leo said. "It could be Casey trying to scare us."
"That makes sense." Jake said.
"I swear. . . I'll hit him if that's the case!" April said, angrily.
"Casey, are you down here?" Raph called out. "If you are, you can come out now. We're done playing games. We need to get out of here."
Suddenly, April shivered as she got a sudden chill down her spine. "Something is down here. . . I can feel it." She said.
"Okay, Casey. April can even tell you're here." Mars said. "So, do us all a favor and come out of hiding."
There was no response.
"I swear, I can sense something is down here with us." April said. "And. . . I don't think it's Casey. Actually, I don't think it's friendly at all."
*CRASH!*
At that moment, there was a a sudden crash that startled everyone, causing them to look in the direction it came from.
"What the hell was that just now?!" Mars asked, feeling a bit frightened.
"Casey?" Raph called out, hoping that it was still his best friend playing a prank.
"No need to panic. . ." Jake said. "We'll just leave the way we came. Casey isn't down here, so. . ."
*SLAM!*
The sound of a door slamming shut caught everyone off guard.
"Uh. . . that wasn't the basement door, was it?" Makayla asked, sounding a bit freaked out.
Leo quickly ran upstairs to check it, only to see that the door had been slammed shut. He tried to open it, but it was no use. The door would not budge.
"Great. . . now we're trapped down here." Leo said.
"No way. . ." Jake said. "Who is down here messing with us?'
Mars growled as she held out her hand to shoot a fire blast at the door. But when she did, it didn't do much and the door remained intact.
"Huh? That should've worked!" Mars said, angrily.
"This house doesn't let us use our powers properly, remember?" Makayla said. "We're screwed!"
. . . . .
Meanwhile with the other team, they were walking around the house, trying to find Casey. But they weren't having any such luck. Eventually, they made their way into a library.
"Where could that hockey boy have gone?" Douxie said. "There's only so many places to hide in this house."
"There has to be a clue somewhere." Elexa said. "Keep looking around."
"All I see are a bunch of books." Mikey said.
"Yeah, I doubt Casey has even stepped into the parking lot of a library, let alone actually going inside of one." Donnie said.
"Oh man. . . where could he have gone?" Callie asked. "This is getting freakier by the minute."
Shane continued to look around as he began to feel the spines of all the books on the shelves.
'There's something here.' Shane thought to himself. 'I can feel it. Casey has to be close.'
"What are you doing, Shane?" Donnie asked. "Now's not the time to be reading. We need to find Casey."
"Just let him do his own thing." Douxie said. "Let's focus on what we need to do."
*CREAK!*
Suddenly a loud noise was heard, like the sound of wood scraping against rock.
"What was that?" Callie asked.
Everyone turned around to where Shane was. But when they did, he was gone.
"Shane?" Gracie said in concern. "Where did you go?"
"Man, at least say something when you leave us." Mikey said.
"There goes another team member lost under your watch." Callie said.
"Okay, I didn't tell him to go look elsewhere this time." Donnie said. "You can't fully blame me for this."
"Wait a minute. . ." Douxie said as he walked to the bookshelves where Shane was looking.
He then looked around and a specific book caught his eye. He then went to grab it, as a clicking noise was heard and the the bookshelf suddenly turned to reveal a secret passage in the wall.
"Check it out." Douxie said. "I think Shane might've found this secret passageway on accident."
"Huh. . . I guess he *is* useful, after all." Donnie said.
"You think that's where Casey went?" Mikey asked.
"Only one way to find out." Douxie said. "Let's go."
With that, Douxie went into the secret passage and was quickly followed by everyone else. Once they were all inside, the bookshelf turned back into place behind them. There was no turning back for them.
