Unintentionally, you woke up early the next morning. The thought of running into Cedric and the anxiety over getting lost in the corridors jolted you awake. You quickly changed into your robes, grabbed your books, and opened the door—only to find Hermione standing there with a wide grin.

"You didn't think I'd let you wander around on your first day alone, did you?" she teased.

Her presence eased your nerves, and you smiled back. "Thank you again."

She led you out of the common room and toward the Great Hall for breakfast. Once you were seated, she reached into your bag and pulled out your timetable, studying it briefly before frowning. "No classes together, unfortunately, but not to worry. I'll walk you to your first class, and you can find a fellow Gryffindor to show you to your next." Hermione was a good friend, but she also took on this motherly role that you found comforting.

You were interrupted by two boys who took a seat across from you. Hermione quickly introduced them, "Y/N, this is Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Ron and Harry, this is Y/N Y/L/N."

"Very nice to meet you both. Ron, I've heard wonderful things about you!" you said, giving him a warm smile.

He glanced at Hermione and blushed, both of them clearly ecstatic about their new relationship.

"So, you're the new transfer student from Beauxbatons. I have to say, you ended up in a respectable house," Harry remarked, giving you an approving glance.

"Well, so far, everyone—by which I mean Hermione—has been wonderful at making me feel at home," you replied.

After breakfast, Hermione walked you to your first class: Potions. She pointed you in the right direction, then took off, sprinting to her own class. You couldn't help but laugh as you watched her push through the crowd, limbs flailing as she dashed down the hall.

Just as you were about to round the corner, a familiar figure caught your eye. You muttered a quick curse under your breath and kept walking. You both noticed each other, and for a moment, it felt like time stopped. He quickly closed the distance and pulled you into a hug without hesitation."Y/N," he whispered. "It's so good to see you."

"It's good to see you, Cedric," you muttered back, still wrapped in his arms.

He stepped back, his eyes wide with surprise. "I—I have so many questions. I just can't believe you're really here. I mean, I saw you getting sorted yesterday, but I didn't have a chance to find you. What are you doing here?" he smiled.

It had been so long since you'd seen Cedric. You had imagined your reunion so many times, but none of your scenarios felt as natural as this.

"My father's job relocated us back to Devon."

"That's amazing! I can't help but wonder, though... why you didn't tell me? I would've loved to show you around and—"

He was interrupted by a pair of arms wrapping around him from behind. She laced her fingers with his, and you couldn't tear your gaze away. You saw his expression shift momentarily as he cleared his throat.

"Y/N, this is Cho. Cho, this is Y/N—we grew up together back in Devon."

Cho smiled and extended her hand, which you shook a bit awkwardly."Oh, you're the new seventh-year transfer from Beauxbatons! That must be so exciting," she said, her smile warm.

You forced a smile in return, though a hollow feeling settled in your stomach."Well, I should get to my first class—I'd hate to be late on my very first day. It was nice meeting you, Cho, and... good to see you again, Cedric."

You quickly turned away, your eyes glued to the floor as you hurried off. There was a feeling you couldn't quite shake. It wasn't anger, betrayal, or even hatred—it just hurt. It was the same ache you felt when Cedric and you had been apart for all those years, but somehow it was worse now. You guessed your breakup hadn't affected him much after all. Did he really forget everything you'd written to each other? It wasn't like you expected Cedric to remain single forever, but maybe the breakup meant more to you than it did to him. You barely had time to process these emotions when you suddenly bumped into a large figure in front of you. You hit the floor and reluctantly looked up to find a pair of piercing gray eyes staring back at you. "Watch where you're going," he snapped.
