Once you reached your dorm, you slammed the door shut and collapsed onto your bed. A strange sense of relief washed over you—Hermione hadn't come back yet from the hospital wing. Nothing made sense anymore, and deep down, you knew it was your own doing. A part of you wished you had never gotten caught up with Draco, that maybe Cedric would've found his way back to you on his own. But another part of you wondered if it would've been better if you had never dated Cedric at all, if you and Draco could've been something real instead.
The whirlwind of regrets swirling in your mind was broken when Hermione finally returned. She looked exhausted and still clearly irritated from the events in the hospital wing.
"Those boys," she muttered under her breath, "Ron's getting his bones mended as we speak." But her eyes flicked to the mascara smears on your pillow, and she immediately knelt beside you, pulling you into a tight hug.
"What is it? Did you try the broom and break something?" she teased, a hint of humor flicking in her tired eyes.
You rested your head on her shoulder, the tears you'd been fighting threatening to spill again. "I wish it were that simple." You paused, swallowing the lump in your throat. "Cedric and I talked after you and Ron left. He told me he broke up with Cho. Then... he started questioning my feelings for Draco."
You half expected Hermione to smile or clap her hands in excitement, but she didn't. Instead, she tightened her grip on you and shook her head, a frustrated expression settling on her face. She muttered something about how ridiculous Cedric was.
"Is Draco... growing on you?" you managed a weak chuckle.
"No! I didn't say that." Hermione's brow furrowed. "But what Cedric did—it's... it's disrespectful. He had his chance with you. He shouldn't be coming back now. You're not going to take him back are you?"
"No," you muttered. Even though there were lingering "feelings", if you could even call them that, thinking of it just left you puzzled.
"Good. He doesn't deserve you." Hermione's voice softened. "Don't let it get to you. Only you and Draco know what your relationship really means and how you both feel about each other."
Do we though?
You nodded and managed a half-smile.
"How about tomorrow after class, we sneak off to Hogsmeade? We can pick out dresses for the ball—it'll be fun!" Hermione's eyes lit up at the idea.
"You sneaking off to Hogsmeade?" you chuckled, surprised. "Aren't you swamped with exams?"
"I can make time." She waved a dismissive hand. "There are more important things than studying. It's not like we'll be watching two idiots on brooms."
You both laughed, even if just a little, the tension in your chest easing slightly.

As promised, Hermione met up with you after class and led you toward the out of order girls' lavatory.
"What are we doing here?" you asked, glancing around the room with curiosity. "I've never stepped foot in here... it's ghastly"
"Shh! She'll hear you."
"Who?"
She brushed off your question with a casual wave and pulled out what appeared to be a large, brown velvet blanket. Without hesitation, she draped it over herself, and to your amazement, she disappeared entirely from view.
"Merlin's beard! Where did you get that?" you gasped, your eyes wide with shock, before carefully slipping under the cloak yourself.
"Promise you won't tell anyone... but I borrowed it from under Harry's bed. He's had it since his first year," she confessed in a hushed voice.
