Despite the kiss still lingering in your mind, you made the decision to find Cedric and congratulate him on his victory. You tugged at Malfoy's arm, but he groaned in annoyance.
"Did you honestly think I'd congratulate him with you? You've lost your mind."
"Come on, it'll be quick," you urged.
With an irritated sigh, he stood up from his seat, his expression sour. "No, Y/N. I'm heading back to the Slytherin common room."
Rolling your eyes, you brushed past him, your gaze already scanning the crowd of students in search of Cedric. After a moment, your eyes met his, and he flashed you a warm smile before pulling you into a tight hug. You didn't care that he was drenched from head to toe; the only thing that mattered was that he was safe.
"Congratulations!" you beamed.
He chuckled. "I definitely needed that win after plummeting on the first task"
Cedric held you a little closer, his lips brushing near your ear as he spoke. "We'll be celebrating in the Hufflepuff common room tonight. It's a house-only thing, but I'll sneak you in if you would like to join."
Hufflepuff only? Would that mean no Cho? Either way, you took your chances.
"Yeah that sounds great!"
"Just meet me in front of the Great Hall after dinner," Cedric yelled while being swept away by a cheering crowd of Hufflepuffs.
You watched him disappear into the mass, a smile tugging at your lips. For a moment, you wondered if Draco was upset with you, but quickly dismissed the thought. It didn't matter. The night you shared meant nothing to him, so it shouldn't have meant anything to you either. What did it matter if your 'boyfriend' was angry? You were determined to try again with Cedric. But before anything impulsive, you needed to figure out where things stood with Cho.
The trio caught sight of you and hurried over, excitement written all over their faces.
"Bloody hell, that was brilliant!" Ron grinned, his voice full of admiration. "Way cooler than last year!"
Harry chimed in, equally ecstatic. "Seriously! I mean, the Muffliato charm? Genius! I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years!"
"I would've," Hermione said smugly.
She pulled you in closer, a devilish smirk across her face, "I just saw Cedric talking to you. What did he say?"
"Give it a rest Hermione, you saw him kiss Cho right after" you chuckled, trying to hide your disappointment. "And I was just congratulating him that's all"
It was obvious she was disappointed. Although, the tension fizzled once the four of you arrived at the Great Hall for dinner.

There was never a time where you'd been so eager to reach your dorm. As you rifled through your closet, you ignored Hermione's persistent questioning.
"I demand to know where you're off to! I thought you died when you didn't come back from the library last night!"
Focused on finding something to wear, you responded without looking up, "Uh, date. With Malfoy. I'll be back, I promise."
She groaned and collapsed onto the bed, opening up a large textbook. You flashed her a smile before slipping out of the room, quietly making your way back to the Great Hall. As planned, Cedric was there waiting, his grin wide. He turned and began leading you toward the Hufflepuff common room.
Cedric glanced over his shoulder, "Just so you know, you'll be the only non-Hufflepuff there."
"Wow, I feel so honored," you teased.
