"Is what true?" you asked, forcing a nervous laugh. You already knew exactly what they were talking about, but you hoped for a moment they hadn't heard the rumors yet.
Harry marched up to you. "You and Malfoy" he shot. Hermione quickly stepped in front of him, her arm outstretched, trying to keep him from coming any closer.
"Harry, calm down," Hermione urged, her voice shaky as she pleaded with him. "Let her explain first."
You looked down, your voice barely above a whisper. "It's true."
Harry's expression shifted from concern to fury. "He hexed you! That's the only explanation!"
"He didn't hex me!" you protested, shaking your head. "We just... we just grew close, that's all."
"How is that even possible?" Hermione asked, her voice rising in disbelief. "He was horrible to you from the start—sent you to the bloody clock tower on your first day! And now you're... dating him?"
"I know it doesn't make sense," you said quickly, lifting your gaze to meet her eyes. "But he's different now. He's been... sweet to me."
Harry's disbelief turned into a harsh laugh. "Sweet? Are you serious? After everything he's done?"
"I know it sounds crazy, but I'm telling you, he's changed... with me," you explained, feeling more defensive now.
Just then, Ron walked into the common room, a chocolate frog in hand. He greeted you with a smile, happy to see you back from the infirmary. But as he took in the tense atmosphere, he raised an eyebrow. "Who died?" he asked with a half-laugh.
"It's true, Ron," Harry mumbled, his voice heavy. "She's with Malfoy."
"Please, just try to understand," you said, feeling the weight of their disapproval. "You all knew how upset I was over Cedric. But I feel happy now."
Harry turned to leave, with Ron trailing behind, throwing you a look that mixed disappointment with a touch of sympathy. Hermione stayed put, her hand gently landing on your shoulder.
"I don't support this relationship, and I can't say I understand it," she said quietly, her voice laced with concern. "But it doesn't change our friendship, Y/F/N."
The lump in your throat tightened, and you forced the words out. "But what about Harry and Ron?"
"They'll come around... eventually," Hermione said, offering you a thin smile. "Just give it some time."

Two weeks had passed, and just as Hermione had predicted, Harry had come around. Ron, with Hermione's constant persuasion, had adjusted much more quickly. However, things weren't quite the same as they had been before. Still, you were grateful for their understanding, even if it was a bit awkward at times.
Task two was just around the corner, and you'd promised yourself you wouldn't rush to Cedric's aid again. One bludger to the head was enough for the year. As for things with Malfoy, they hadn't changed much either. The walks to class, the hand-holding, and the forehead kisses still sparked gossip among the students, just as they had at the start.

This week had been especially busy, with you preparing for your exam on Mandrakes. Not only were you studying for yourself, but you were also completing Draco's homework, as usual. You decided to get an early start and arrived at the greenhouse to practice.
When you arrived, Pansy Parkinson and four other Slytherins entered shortly after. By now, you were used to her cutting remarks and desperate attempts for Draco's attention, so you tried your best to ignore her and focus on your work.
