(TWO MONTHS AGO)
"Where are you? I am already waiting for you for almost an hour. It's freezing cold out here." I was grasping for air as I was holding the phone to my ear.
"I told you I'm at my Brittany's house."
I could feel the anger on his voice.
"No, you didn't tell me that." I almost screamed.
I know he's lying.
"Didn't I? Okay. Well, now you know." He sounded pissed. He's being sarcastic again.
Sarcasm is his weapon.
"Josh, you told me you'll pick me up. It's already 10. Please. I'm cold." I tried to calm down but inside I was almost dying.
"I'm sorry. I--I can't babe."
It felt like someone punched my ear that it was suddenly aching. His words struck me and I felt rejected.
"Why not?" It was almost a cry.
"My cousin won't let me go. I'm sorry. Just--just tell Lucia to pick you up." He said and then ended the call.
I dropped in my knees on the cold floor of the lobby. People passing by were staring at me like I was a stranger.
My heart was aching. I can barely breathe. I was hurt.
I left my car at my house because I was expecting for Josh to come pick me up, as what he had promised.
I dialed Roxy's number as I sat on the floor, hugging my knees. My tears kept falling down my cheeks.
"Rox?"
"Hey! Shy! W-wait, are you okay?" She asked. I could hear the concern on her voice.
"I'm still at the uni." I sniffled.
"But, why? I thought your boyfriend's gonna pick you up."
"Yeah. I thought so too." I couldn't hide the disappointment on my voice.
"That idiot!.. Okay, just--just wait for me there. I'll come pick you up." She said before she hang up.
It was already eleven in the evening when Roxy took me home. She was mad after I told her about Josh's excuse. She said it was really a lame excuse and I agreed.
Mama Lucia was waiting for me in the dining area when I opened the door.
"Oh. Thank goodness! You're home. What happened?" She ran towards me and grabbed my hand.
"I'm okay. I was just---.." I paused. I didn't want to let her know that my boyfriend didn't show up.
"Are you hungry? Come on. I've already cooked for you." She led me to the table and let me have my dinner.
It was midnight when I suddenly woke up. I checked my phone and I got no message from Josh. My heart hurt again.
Few hours went by and I still haven't gone back to sleep. I kept on rolling on my bed but my mind was still thinking about him.
I picked my phone and decided to send him a message.
"Where are you? I still haven't heard anything from you. Please call me."
