I could hear his heartbeat as I pressed my head hard on his chest. It was a peaceful sound despite the loud music in the background. I didn't care what people might think when they saw us.

His arms were holding my waist tight. He didn't say any word, neither do I.

I couldn't stop crying. I was sobbing so hard that it made my throat hurt.

I assumed it was more or less than five minutes that we were standing up like that in the middle of the big crowd.

When somebody suddenly spoke on the microphone and everyone started to shout and cheer, I quickly pulled myself away from Travis. I saw his facial expression changed as he looked at me in confusion.

"I'm sorry." That was the only thing I had managed to say before I ran away and straight towards the exit.

I didn't look back. I know he didn't run after me. I was panting so hard until I reached the exit.

I was starving but then I realized I didn't have my car so I decided to just go home. So, I hailed a taxi.

Twenty minutes later, I was standing on our front porch steps. I didn't know what to do and how to tell my dad about the result. I know he'd be happy but yet I didn't want to disappoint myself even more and think about how I failed my mission.

Before I could touch the knob of the door, it suddenly opened and Mama Lucia was there looking hopeless.

"Shiloh!" She pulled me into her arms.

I didn't say a word. I wasn't in the mood to tell the whole story.

"Are you okay?" She asked as she patted my back.

I only managed to nod.

"Are you hungry? Come on. Let's get inside." She grabbed my hand and led me to the dining area.

I wondered where my dad was. I was thinking maybe he'd gone to bed since it was already late.

While Mama Lucia was preparing my food, I asked her an odd question.

"Where's dad? Was he even looking for me?"

Upon hearing me, Mama Lucia accidentally dropped the spoon.

"Yes. He's in his room." She said.

"Alright."

I didn't realize I was that hungry until I finished everything on the plate and Mama Lucia was just there watching me as I tried to full my hungry stomach.

"Where have you been Shiloh?" She suddenly asked me.

"At school. There's a party. But, I didn't stay long."

"Oh.. So, how was the result?"

It made me stop.

I slowly looked up at her and I saw her worried face. I didn't answer her but I really saw she knew what was on my mind.

She let out a big sigh and walked towards me. "I know what you're thinking about, my dear. Your dad hasn't coming out from his room after he called you. He knows something is wrong and it was bothering him."

I froze from my seat as I registered every word she said. I felt anxious and more confused.

"Is mom coming home?" I asked, my throat was starting to ache as I tried to hold up my tears.

"I didn't heard anything from her, Shiloh. But, I guess she'll be back sooner." Mama Lucia smoothen my hair.

"Mama?" I turned to her.
