I sat on my bed in my room thinking something was amiss ,Selene told me that she saw everything that happened in the forest but left when I was saying the spell yet managed to see the Maledictixys break free but now she's saying she was unaware of what she was doing in the forest.

If she forgot what she did shouldn't I have forgotten too. I got up and headed to Selene's room it was late but I needed answers.

I opened the door and got in without knocking my expression very serious, Selene was seated on her mini couch reading a book.

"You lied didn't you" I said and Selene looked at me with confusion I couldn't tell if it was fake or not.

"Lied about what Zara" she asked getting up from the couch to stand infront of me you'd swear she's innocent.

"You remember very well what happened at the forest because how else would you remember that I was there I said the spell and the Maledictixys was released" I said keeping a serious face.

"I..I ..." She stuttered and that was enough confirmation .

"Wow Selene, so you just thought you'd pin the blame on me so no one finds out what the you did" I said angry but also hurt.

"I know that was selfish of me, but dad would be so angry and disappointed in me" she said as if it was something small.

"Soo it's better he be angry with ,do you know what you've done Mr H won't even talk to me . It would be so much better If we both confessed this way they can actually believe that it was unintentional" I said angrily.

"Shhh keep your voice down everyone will hear you" Selene whispered ,how unbelievable of her.

"It doesn't matter Selene at the end of the day both you and I were responsible for freeing the Maledictixys and it's unfair that I should take all the blame" I said louder than before and unfortunately for Selene Mr Henderson was standing at the door and he heard what I just said.

Mr. Henderson’s face was like stone as he stood in the doorway, arms crossed. His gaze shifted from me to Selene, a deep, cold fury brewing beneath his calm exterior. For a second, none of us moved. The tension in the air was suffocating.

"Is that true?" he asked, his voice low but filled with disappointment. "Both of you... are responsible?"

Selene froze, her eyes wide with fear, as if she hadn't expected to be caught like this. "Dad, I—"

"No more lies, Selene." His voice was sharp, cutting her off before she could attempt another excuse. "I heard everything."

My heart was pounding, but there was also a strange sense of relief. I wasn’t alone in this anymore. He finally knew the truth, or at least, part of it.

Selene’s lip trembled as she stepped back, looking between me and her father, her defenses crumbling. "I was scared," she whispered. "I didn’t want you to be mad at me."

"Mad at you?" Mr. Henderson’s voice rose slightly, his frustration spilling over. "You helped release a creature that could destroy our entire pack, and you think this is about being mad?" His jaw tightened, and he took a deep breath, trying to rein in his emotions. "This is about trust, Selene. You lied, you tried to pin this on Zara—your sister—and you’ve put all of us in danger because you were scared."

Selene looked down, tears welling up in her eyes, but she didn’t say anything. The weight of what she had done finally seemed to be sinking in.

"Zara," Mr. Henderson said, turning to me, his expression softening just slightly. "Why didn’t you tell me this from the start?"

"Well I didn't think you'd believe me over your own daughter so I kept quiet besides you were so angry with me I didn't think you'd even want to see my face"

Mr. Henderson’s expression shifted, guilt flickering in his eyes as my words sank in. He opened his mouth to respond but hesitated. For a moment, he seemed at a loss for words, and I could feel the weight of everything unspoken between us.

“I should have listened,” he admitted, his voice strained. “I let my anger cloud my judgment, and I didn’t give you a chance to explain.” He glanced at Selene, disappointment still etched on his face. “But this... this isn’t just about anger. This is about the fact that both of you have put us all in danger.”

Selene looked down, her guilt palpable, but she stayed silent. I could see she was struggling with her emotions, but I was too upset to feel sympathy.

"I didn't want to disappoint you, Dad," Selene whispered, her voice cracking.

Mr. Henderson’s shoulders sagged slightly. "Selene, this isn't about disappointment. It's about responsibility. You were reckless, both of you, and now the entire pack is at risk."

I couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt at his words. Even though Selene had tried to pin everything on me, we had both made mistakes. "I know we messed up," I said quietly, looking down at the floor. "But we’ll fix it. We have to."

Mr. Henderson nodded, though his face was still clouded with concern. "The Alpha meeting tomorrow will be the first step. They need to know the full story. And after that... we’ll deal with the Maledictixys. Together."

Selene’s breath hitched, and I could tell she was trying not to cry. “What if it’s too late?”

Mr. Henderson paused, his jaw tightening again. “It’s not too late. But we have to act fast.” He looked at both of us, his expression softening for the first time since he’d entered the room. “No more lies. From now on, we work as a team. Understood?”

I nodded, glancing at Selene, who gave a small, reluctant nod in return. She still looked scared, but there was something in her eyes—a determination that hadn’t been there before.

"We'll fix this," I repeated, more to myself than anyone else.

Mr. Henderson gave a curt nod. "Get some sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a long day."

He turned and left the room, leaving Selene and me standing in awkward silence. I could feel the tension between us, but now it was different. Less angry, more... uncertain.

“I’m sorry, Zara,” Selene whispered after a long pause. "I really am."

I stared at her for a moment, weighing her words. Part of me wanted to believe her, to forgive her—but another part of me still felt the sting of betrayal. “We’ll see,” I said finally. “We’ll see if you really mean that.”

Without waiting for a response, I turned and left her room, heading back to mine. Tomorrow, everything would change. I just hoped we could fix what we’d broken before it was too late.
