Chapter 25 : Another one

Zain came knocking on my door and he got in before I could answer."Bro aren't you having dinner?" He asked and clearly he was volunteering to have my share of dinner.

"Nah dude I'm not hungry but you can have it if you want" I said and clearly he wanted to celebrate.

"Okay no problem get some rest tomorrow is yet another day" he said trying to remain civilised. I went to take a shower and fell asleep immediately after.

(The next day)

I woke up the next day to countless notifications on my phone . I checked it and it was the news I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Three men were found dead this morning three were in the forest and the other three were found on three different streets. All men seem to have died of an unnatural cause . They were all brutally killed the pictures were hard to look at.

I ran downstairs where the Henderson family was watching the news on the television. They turned to look at me I was shocked and felt guilty I shook my head in disbelief. Four of those men were werewolves this was clearly the doing of the Maledictixys.

I ran back upstairs to my room shutting the door behind me . "The dark energy has attacked and six innocent people have died, huh so this is worse than I thought " I said walking around the room talking to myself.

"Ohhh my goodness we're all gonna die" I said putting my hands over my head "there must be a way to fix this ,I have to fix this ,but how I mean it took years and countless sacrifices to get rid of it last time how am I gonna do it?" I continued talking to myself while walking around the room.

I stopped infront of the mirror "I might aswell prepare for me to slip into depression because my life is going to be miserable and sad and full of responsibility" I said talking to my reflection

I stared at my reflection, my eyes wide with panic. The weight of everything was crushing me, and it was getting harder to breathe. Six people. Six lives brutally taken, and I felt like I was the one responsible. I knew it wasn’t directly my fault, but the guilt gnawed at me. I had unleashed the Maledictixys. I had brought this darkness into the world.

I clenched my fists, trying to regain control. "Get a grip, Zara," I muttered to myself. "You can't fall apart now. You have to fix this."

But how? How could I, a girl who couldn’t even control her own powers, stop something as ancient and dangerous as the Maledictixys? The werewolves had barely been able to contain it before, and they were stronger than me. What hope did I have?

I started pacing again, my mind racing, trying to think of a plan. I couldn't just stand by and watch people die. There had to be something I could do. But the thought of facing the Maledictixys again made my skin crawl. Its dark energy had a hold on me, one that I couldn’t seem to shake no matter how hard I tried.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

"Zara?" It was Zain’s voice, muffled by the wood. "You okay?"

I didn’t answer. Zain was actually here on time I needed a distraction and well I guess this is a good time for payback.

“Zara, come on. Open up.”

When I didn’t respond, Zain knocked again, this time more urgently. "Zara, open the door or I’m coming in."

I needed a stress reliever and this should be it.

And then I heard it—a loud crack. The door burst open, and Zain stood in the doorway.

"Zara, I—"

Before he could finish, I backed away, holding up my hands. "Don’t come any closer," I warned, my voice trembling. "I’m not... I’m not in control right now." I said over reacting

Zain hesitated, but he didn’t move back. Instead, he stepped forward, his eyes softening with concern. "Zara, it’s okay. You’re okay."

I shook my head, my body trembling . "No, I’m not. I can’t control it, Zain. The Maledictixys... it’s inside me. I’m going to hurt someone if I don’t stop."

Zain didn’t flinch. He just kept his eyes on mine, his voice calm. "You won’t hurt anyone. I know you won’t."

"You don’t understand!" I snapped, my voice breaking. "I can feel it, Zain. It’s inside me, and it’s getting stronger. I can’t stop it." I continued over exaggerating and he still didn't see it.

Zain took another step closer, his expression resolute. "Zara, listen to me. You can stop it. You’re stronger than this thing. You just need to focus."

"Dude no seriously stop are you trying to get yourself killed" I said leaving the act.

"Well no" he replied.

"Then leave , dude it's just a prank" I said directing him to the door.

"Ohhh I see this is revenge for the prank I pulled on you last week,nicely played" he said and I shut the door in his face.

"Jeez I love this kid but he just doesn't give up this isn't some movie he could actually die one day. I mean what if I was really possessed and not just acting."I said talking to my reflection again.

"O-ka-y I think I'm going crazy " I said stepping away from the mirror and heading to the bathroom to get ready for school.

Everyone sat at the table eating breakfast and talking, I quickly ran out the door before anyone could say anything .

I knocked on Roshni's door and Ravi opened . "Hey beautiful" Ravi said which never seemed to be normal to me.

"Hi Ravi, where's Roshni?" I asked and Rahul rushed to the door before Ravi could answer.

"Wassup Z"

"Sup RH" I replied

"I was actually looking for Roshni" I continued

"Well she's upstairs getting ready but you can come in and wait for her" Ravi said and Rahul was quick to interrupt.

"Yeah I wanted to talk to you about something anyway " he said and I stepped inside and all three of us sat down on the couch.

"Ravi ,don't you have something better to do ,the elders are talking " Rahul said trying to get rid of Ravi.

Ravi looked at him for a minute in suspicion"fine but I'll be close to make sure you don't try anything " Ravi said going upstairs.

"So what do you wanna talk about?" I asked

"My parents informed us that there is going to a family event on the weekend from 4p.m on Saturday until Sunday afternoon "

"Okay that sounds cool ,but what do I have to do with it?" I asked

"I told my aunts that I would bring my girlfriend as my date and you know Indian aunts if I don't bring someone I'll be a laughing stock for my entire life" Rahul said and i laughed a little.

"So you want to be your fake girlfriend again and go with you to this event." I said

"Actually... No" he replied and now I was confused.

"Wh...What then, what are you saying?" I asked

"This is gonna sound weird and might even ruin what we have but ... I've been thinking a lot lately and I can't get the kiss we had out of my head, I know it wasn't real and it was a long time ago but I think I might actually feel something for you" Rahul said and here it is again I was in this situation again and this time with my best friend's brother.

"Rahul uhhhm I ..." I said taking my bag and standing up from the couch.

"Listen Z I know this is a lot but I think I like you and I was hoping that ..." Rahul said also getting up but I cut his words short before he could continue.

"RH listen it's all in your head you're not even sure about what you're saying, besides you're my best friend's brother" I said and Roshni came downstairs.

"Z you're early" Roshni said and I turned to look at her.

"Yeah Rosh I know it's weird I shocked myself " I replied.

"I see ,well then let's go before Rahul starts harassing you" she said walking tto the door

I turned back to Rahul "I'm sorry, but you can ask Simmy I'm sure she'll be interested, I'll see you at school" I said and quickly followed Roshni
