Chromatober Day 15 - Rubatosis

[This makes use of my RQ Garden AU during the time that Professor Red first captured Sabre and locked him into that open machine. But how is he meant to get a blood sample when Sabre has no organs? At least that's what Sabre believes...]

[Sabre's POV]

This felt so unnatural.. Being locked into place. It wasn't like when I was stiff and had trouble moving and controlling the roots that made up my body.

This was different. Forced.. If I wanted to move I couldn't even a single inch. I could feel the force being applied with nothing happening. Before it was just no pressure and no signal that I was barely trying.

I heard the Professor walk into the room, the silent pats of his feet on the metallic ground. It was so silent... I couldn't speak now and normally I'd be talking my head off.

Professor Red smirked, walking closer. "You really are a unique specimen.. How are you even sentient? There must be some kinds of internal organs that make you tick.. I'd absolutely love to.. Get a closer look..." His grin was maniacal, spreading from ear-to-ear.

I at least could shake my head. I didn't have anything inside me, just plant stuff. Sage had.. Gotten rid of all of that...

Anyways!! The Professor moved closer, pulling out a scalpel and needle. If my eyes could widen they would, instead my face stayed dead flat. It was as if I were okay with it, the exact opposite of how I felt. "Glad you don't have any concerns!! Trust me, I'm trained in this."

My anxiety immediately spiked. I wish I could try breathing in and out to help, but I didn't breathe anymore. All the sudden I could hear the blood roaring in my ears despite my definite lack of any. I could also heard uneven beating.

Thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang thump pang.

Why was this moment so long. Why was this so drawn out. Why could I hear my heart? It was so unsettling..

But I didn't have a heart... Right..?

When did the Professor get gloves on..? I watched him with fear and panic as the Professor kneeled down and silently cut a vertical slit in the roots of my upper chest, pulling them open.

The pain was white hot and agonizing. I couldn't tell if it was worse then when I was set ablaze or if I should be grateful that it could be worse. I couldn't think through this.

My roots creaked as the Professor reached his hand inside and. He touched something and an even larger spike of pain hit me, somehow causing me to flinch even through the force of the machine. Professor Red tilted his head with a smirk.

"Hold still now.." He brought back the scalpel and cut into another thing very carefully, making sure to look inside as to not seriously damage anything super important. What was important in there? It didn't matter, everything hurt too much.

The Professor set the scalpel down and reached back in. Touching something. This was worse than ANYTHING ever. Worse than the fire. Worse than the cutting. Worse than the insults and betrayal. This was pure agony. STOP PLEASE. W

Professor Red pulled his hand back out and I was stuck with shock with what I saw and heard.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.

Why was there blood on his hand.. Why was there blood- WHY WAS MY BLOOD ON HIS HANDS. I DON'T HAVE ANY. I DON'T HAVE ANY. I DON'T-

Professor Red reached back in, my thoughts interrupted with more strikes of agony. What was he touching that was blood covered..

"Interesting.. You don't seem to have many vital organs besides the heart and possibly the brain. We'll have to save that for another day though!"

...But I didn't have a heart...
