Chromatober Day 12 - Screech

[This makes use of my RQ Lab AU right after the battle with Galaxy against Nightmare. That one sealed off cell that was calling to Rainbow? Yeah, they had to go in it, that's where The Void resided.]

[Sabre's POV]

Me, Rainbow, and Galaxy trudged through the black sludge that went just above my ankles. I made sure to hold both their hands as we made our way back to the entrance of the long twisting and turning corridors.

It was completely pitch black in the hall, every inch of every surface covered by the dripping black goop, it was suffocating. When I first left Him in here it was simply a wide open room, I later gave Him many toys. Why did I leave Him in there...

Rainbow clung closer to me and Galaxy shone brighter, he was our only source of light. Going in I desperately tried to get them not to follow, but they insisted. Plus they were good bits of help despite being children..

It was just confusing how there were so many halls. How had a The Darkness corroded this much space? So many directions that someone could get lost in that were never meant to be there.

"We're almost there Rainbow.. It'll be alright..." I ruffled his hair and his cat tail curled around my leg, ears going flat.

Every squish of The Darkness hurt me mentally. I wondered where He was, I knew He could feel every single step in His Darkness. I was surprised we hadn't encountered Him yeet.

At least due to how incredibly intelligent I was, I had an impeccable sense of direction! I knew exactly the path we came from despite out footprints automatically being covered up by The Darkness. My guess was that He was purposely controlling it to do that, though He should've known it wouldn't work.

He's changed so much.. It is my fault too...

As we got back to the orignal room, Rainbow and Galaxy smiled, happy to almost be out of this horrible area.

All the sudden we heard a deafening screech and something in The Darkness rose, crawling across walls under a limb on the black sludge. Rainbow's eyes widened and clung tightly to me, a kid shouldn't have to deal with this... Meanwhile Galaxy continued shining brighter, hoping it would be somewhat effective against The Darkness.

A voice spoke, it was His, just much more distorted. "Come to finish me off Sabre?" I cringed at hearing my own name from him, he always would call me dad... Not anymore though.

I spoke, holding onto Galaxy and Rainbow. "You know what we did, we dealt with Nightmare. Now we're on our way and we'll leave you alone, simple." I backed away slowly.

"Ooohh but Sabre..! That's not what I want anymore! I need to put all of these poor children out of their misery from your neglect and abuse to make them One!" He said 'One' as if it were something to be admired and respected.

This infuriated me- No one messed with my creations, scratch that, children. "Leave them out of this!! They've done nothing wrong this is between you and me! Please Void.." I begged, still slowly backing away.

Void gave a maniacal laugh. "WOW!! You can't even pay me the respect of calling me by my own name! It's alright, I don't need it anymore; Void is more suiting.. And where were you when I begged? When I kicked and pleaded as you tossed me into this room and shut me away in your angered daze after I did something I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER?!" He yelled, infuriated.

"I messed up I know just leave them alone! As I said this isn't their fight!! It's ours.." I tried again.

Void paused. "Well then, I guess you're the one who brought them in then.." He rushed past out with another screech, LEAVING THE ROOM NO-

I turned, trying to stop him.

He was gone.

Free.

Dangerous.

Vengeful.
