Chromatober Day 21 - Lost

[This makes use my overly headcannoned post Cannon of RQ! Yayyyyy more M and Light!! Unfortunately M has lost something very very precious to her. :( ]

[Light's POV]

I was going to visit M as a little surprise, I knew she enjoyed seeing and spending time with me. I was off today, and I wanted to take the chance to spend the time with her as she is my best friend!

But when I got there.. All I could hear was someone rummaging around and a bunch of crashing. I paused.

Was M even home..? Someone must've broken in!!! This infuriated me. Who would DARE try and steal from M after everything she's been through! They could end up taking something important!

I quickly opened the door, spooking the person inside who was to my surprise, M? Why was she-

She screamed. "Ah!- Light what the fu- heck!? What are you doing here- I mean like, I didn't know you were off and also WHY DID YOU SLAM OPEN MY DOOR??!" She yelled.

My stance quickly calmed and my ears flattened as my tail curled between my legs. "O-oh.. Sorry I just heard all the loud noises and thought someone had broken in..." I said timidly.

M put her hands behind her back, looking guilty. Her eyes quickly looked down at the piles of junk strewn about and kicked some to the side. "What noises."

I looked at the stuff and looked back at M. "Okay, what's going on?" I asked straight to the point, leaning forward and putting my hands on my hips.

M did it respond for a bit, it was just awkward silence. M eventually did crack though, her shoulders untensing. "Y'know those earrings Sabre made me..? The ones I always wear?"

I nodded. "Yeah?" I noticed they weren't on M, odd.. "What about them..?"

M bit her lip, looking down the the side. She was clenching her fists. "..I can't find them.."

My entire body stiffened. Though I quickly went to rummaging though M's stuff as well, pretty frantically. "How did you loose them!?" I yelled, I felt just so.. I don't know how to explain it. It was like every fragment of me was hurting mentally.

We didn't have much from Sabre, so we cherished everything he had given us. "I don't know!! I put them where I always do and by morning they were completely gone!!!" I could hear in M's voice how she was holding back tears.

We searched for the next half hour. With the two of us, we'd looked through the entire house by now. M was shaking intensely. I'm guessing she couldn't take it anymore, falling to the floor with a sob.

"We're never gonna find them.. They're gone..!" M curled up into a corner, pushing her face between her legs and crying.

I frowned, walking over to M and sitting by her. "I'm sure they're not gone.. Just... Somewhere we haven't looked yet!" I said, trying to stay cheerful. I hugged M.

She looked up at me, face streaked with tears. "You don't get it!! We've already looked everywhere!! They're gone.." M's voice was already hoarse from crying.

I pulled M closer, she hugged me back. I softly rubbed the back of her head. "We'll find them.. I promise.. Okay...?"

"Okay.."

"And if we don't, I'm sure they'll turn up eventually."

"Yeah.."

Me and M sat like that for awhile. M crying into my chest while I comforted her.

After a bit there for a knock on the door, spooking M again.

I slowly got up, leaving M to her own devices for a second. Leaving the room, I walked towards the door and opened it.

Professor Red was there, standing nervously. "Oh Light.. Is M home..?" He asked, looking inside. It was difficult for him though, the Professor was quite small compared to all steves.

"Yyyes.. Why are you here? We're kind of in the middle of something.." I stated looking down at the Professor.

"So, M was visiting my lab yesterday and stuff. It was like a monthly checkup on her health because.. Y'know.. She had to take all her jewelry off for the scanner and I believe she left these." Professor Red took them in hand.

He had actually presented them as soon as M had walked into the room, meaning she saw what Professor Red had. She ran over and tightly hugged the Professor. "Thank you.."

Professor Red seemed surprised at first, then hugging back with a smile. He pat M on the back a few times. "Yeah.. Uh- You're welcome."
