The Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) is a species of orangutan endemic to the island of Borneo.
The intelligence of orangutans is well known. They include primates who have a high level of intelligence other than humans. Orangutans can use tools for foraging: crushing nuts and insects. There is also photographic evidence showing orangutans using wooden sticks to catch fish.
The majority of the orangutan diet, around 60%, is made up of fruit. The rest of their nutrition comes from a variety of sources, mostly plants. They eat leaves, shoots, tree bark, honey, insects, small animals, fish, and bird eggs.
