Stretching her arms, Vaggie let out a soft yawn, her gaze immediately searching for Charlie. When she spotted her girlfriend, she was hit with an overwhelming wave of affection. Charlie was pacing back and forth, her brows knitted in frustration, clearly still upset from whatever had transpired before Vaggie had drifted off.

"Charlie!" Vaggie called, a bright smile spreading across her face as she rose from her place. "I'm so glad you're here! I missed you!"

Charlie turned, her expression softening just a fraction at the sight of Vaggie, but the remnants of irritation lingered in her eyes. "Hey, Vaggie," she replied, her tone a mix of warmth and annoyance. "You're... you're really close today."

Vaggie didn't seem to notice the underlying tension. Instead, she took a step closer to Charlie, her body gravitating towards her girlfriend like a moth to a flame. "Can I sit with you?" she asked sweetly, her voice almost melodic.

"Sure," Charlie responded, trying to hide her unease as Vaggie settled herself against Charlie's side, seeking comfort in the closeness. Vaggie snuggled against her, resting her head on Charlie's shoulder, unaware of how her actions might trigger Charlie's memory of the earlier encounter with Lucifer.

"Did you have a good day?" Vaggie asked, her voice soft and innocent, hoping to draw Charlie out of her funk.

Charlie hesitated, caught off guard by Vaggie's warmth. "It was... fine," she said, her tone clipped.

Vaggie frowned slightly but pushed through her own feelings of discomfort. "I'm glad," she said softly, her fingers tracing small patterns on Charlie's arm. "I really missed you. I was just... thinking about how lucky I am to have you."

The sincerity in Vaggie's words made Charlie's heart flutter momentarily, but the earlier vision of her father and Vaggie together still gnawed at her mind. "You seemed awfully cozy with Lucifer earlier," Charlie said, attempting to keep her tone light, but a hint of edge slipped through.

Vaggie froze, sensing the tension in the air but unable to identify its source. She shifted closer to Charlie, instinctively seeking comfort. "Charlie, I promise. You're the only one I want to be close to."

With that, Vaggie buried her face into Charlie's neck, breathing in her familiar scent, which instantly calmed her racing heart. She wrapped her arms around Charlie tightly, an instinctual need to feel connected overpowering any lingering apprehension about their earlier conversation.

Charlie, taken aback by Vaggie's sudden clinginess, felt a rush of warmth despite her still- simmering frustration. "Vaggie, you don't have to cling so much. I'm right here," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.

"But I..-..fine.." Vaggie replied, her voice muffled against Charlie's skin. "You make me feel safe."

As Vaggie clung to her, Charlie's heart softened further. Maybe it was just the stress of the day getting to her, or perhaps it was the way Vaggie's warmth seeped into her, but she felt herself relaxing into the embrace, even if part of her still simmered with confusion.

"I'm here, Vaggie," Charlie whispered, running her fingers gently through Vaggie's hair. "I'm not going anywhere."

Vaggie pulled back slightly, looking into Charlie's eyes, a hint of vulnerability shimmering in her gaze. "Promise?"

"Promise. ." Charlie replied, and for a moment, the tension melted away, leaving behind only the warmth of their connection.
