Chapter 8

Edward’s Return & Halloween

It was mid-October in Forks, Washington, Halloween season. People had scary, funny, and silly decorations on the lawns and porches of their houses. It is currently Wednesday, lunch at Forks High School, students are discussing plans on what to do for halloween, party, go trick-or-treating with younger siblings, or binge watch horror movies. Kol and Katherine are discussing the plan on how Katherine will turn on Halloween night because it was a blood-moon night and there was no stopping it. The Cullens were just gonna avoid celebrating the holiday like they did every year. Emmett and Rosalie, however, were a bit on edge because they got news this morning from Carlisle that Edward was ready to come home and apologize to them both but they told him that they wouldn’t forgive Edward unless he apologizes to the Stone Siblings as well. He was reluctant but agreed, so he came home on Saturday. School was finally over and everyone made their home. Emmett and Rosalie got to the waterfall first and waited for their mates to join them. Kol and Katherine shortly arrived after them but were surprised that the two Cullens were there before them. They immediately knew something was off.

“Emmett, Rosalie, you’re here early.” Kol stated, “Is something wrong?” he added

Emmett looked at Rosalie before he spoke, “Edward is coming back on Saturday to apologize to us.”

“What does that have anything to do with us?” Katherine asked

“Well, we said we wouldn’t forgive him unless he apologizes to the both of you.” Rosalie stated

“Alright, we’ll meet here on Saturday so he can apologize to us, then we can hangout after that.” Kol replied

“A-are you guys doing anything for Halloween?” Rosalie asked as her and Emmett made their way over the waterfall

“Well it’s a blood-moon night, so that means Katherine’s gonna turn. We’ve been preparing.” Kol stated as Rosalie hugged him

“So you’re busy?” asked Emmett as he side-hugged Katherine

“Yup, during the blood-moon is when Katherine is a little more vicious.” Kol added

Rosalie and Kol parted ways from Emmett and Katherine. Rose and Kol headed back to the house to have an intimate moment while Emmett and Katherine went to sit by their tree. Their initials were carved in the tree. Emmett was leaning up against the tree while Katherine was laying on his lap, sketching different images. Emmett was just watching her, admiring her talent.

“Have any of your drawings made into any museums?” Emmett asked

“No.” Katherine said simply

“Well they should be in an art museum.” he added

Katherine just looked up and smiled at his answer. Despite being comfortable talking around him, she still was quiet. They two of them still sat by the tree, speaking to each other every now and then until Katherine ran out of sketch paper. Katherine sat up and packed her sketchbook away in her bag. Emmett then spoke.

“You wanna go to Winter Formal with me?” he asked

Katherine looked at Emmett over her shoulder and chuckled, “What?”

“Well, I was hoping to celebrate Halloween with you but since you’re not gonna be around, I figured I’d ask you early to Winter Formal.” he state
