Lorelei, Melissa, Ellie, Jordan, Joella, and Finn were all sitting at a white rustic looking dining table. Joella had bought a bracelet making kit so all of them could make friendship bracelets.
"What if I made mine an anklet?" Ellie pondered. Joella looked over at her.
"That'd be cute. Do whatever, we don't mind." Joella told, grabbing a bundle of really fine clear string. She cut the length she'd wanted it to be.
"I think I'm gonna look up on Pinterest for inspo pictures." Lorelei said picking up her phone and scrolling through about a hundred pictures of friendship bracelets.
Joella reached her hand to the small bucket of charms filled with letters and numbers and hearts, stars, etc. "What are you going to write for yours, Joella?" Jordan asked, spelling out the nickname "Jordy" on her bracelet, decorated with a yellow star charm before and after her name.
"Olivia Rodrigo reference. 'Deja Vu'." Joella grinned.
Melissa and Lorelei giggled between just them too and had all of the other girls looking at them weirdly, confused why they were laughing, also a hint of crying too. Melissa wiped a tear that fell from Lorelei's eyelashes. Lorelei let out one last laugh.
"What the hell are you guys laughing... crying about?" Ellie corrected herself.
Melissa looked up at her and back down at her and Lorelei's lap where they held each others matching bracelets, then holding them both up.
"It says, 'Hey Angel'. The song that played first on Lorelei's playlist on shuffle, she made for Liam after he..." Melissa cut herself off.
"Died..." Lorelei's smile dropped.
"Who the fuck is Liam?" Finn yelled, hoping she'd get everyone laughing. Instead, everyone just sat there in silence. Melissa gave Finn the stink eye and looked at Lorelei like, 'Can you BELIEVE she just said that...?'
"Liam Payne," Lorelei continued.
"He was one of the boys in One Direction." She finished.
Melissa started, aiming at Finn. "Don't ever say that again you fucktard." Lorelei laughed out loud and quickly slapped her hand over her mouth and faced the other way.

Melissa and Lorelei shared a bedroom together. Melissa was in her bed, staring up at the ceiling and not able to fall asleep. Lorelei was turned on her side, back facing the wall. Her phone screen shined on her face and lit up the room a little more clearer. Lorelei yawned softly and set her phone upside down next to her face, on her pillow. She looked over where Melissa would be and whispered, "Psst."
Melissa heard her and acknowledged her, "Hm".
"Couldn't sleep..." Lorelei turned over on her back and stared up at the ceiling as well. Her feet bumped into the side of her sleeping six year old Australian Shepard.
Melissa chuckled and groaned as she turned over to her side, tugging on the blanket to pull up onto her body. Lorelei sat up, slouching and looked over to her bedside table. Her torso hung over the side of the bed while she grabbed a black permanent marker.
"What are you... doing?" Melissa stared at her as she laid back down and drew a smiley face but with x's for eyes on the back of her hand. Melissa noticed.
