There was absolute silence in the room. The silence before the storm. All were seated in the study room, looking at the ground while their minds were lost. On every face, there was sadness, shock and grief. Naksh was seated aside while his mind was hurting, and he didn't know how to handle this situation. His eyes went towards his brother who was staring silently at his mom but his face was telling the story of his heart while she sat in front of him looking lost and defeated. His eyes went towards his father who stood beside her with his arm folded waiting for her to break silence.
Naksh turned to look at his right as he felt someone holding his hand and looked at his wife who stood beside him silently, conveying her silent support to him. He just tightened his hold on her hand and waited for his mother to say something but she had been sitting like this for the past five minutes.
Getting up, Vedant wiped his tears and crouched down on the ground in front of his mother, he grabbed her hands but frowned as he realized her taking them back from his hold turning her head away from him " Mumma I am sorry, I know I should have told ..."
" You could have told us " Akshara snapped at him accusingly. " We both never forced any decision on you both for your whole life. We are not heartless people Vedant, to not understand what our child want. Our whole life we have worked on you both giving you every freedom so that you can turn to us both whenever you need us without any second thought. If only you had spoken to us. If only you have trusted your parents in this matter ."
" Mumma I am sorry. I know you and Papa are hurt but I had no intention to hurt anyone of you. Whatever I did I felt this was the right thing for everyone "
"Hiding such important things from your parents is the right thing Vedant Singhnia ?? Explain me. You did everything you felt but you never felt the need to discuss it with your parents who always supported you. When Dad said he wanted you to be the next prince you denied it, we supported you though we always wanted our elder son to have this position, You didn't want to take over the Singhnia Empire and wanted to do law I supported you. Then tell me where did I go wrong that you hid such an important thing from us " Akshara glared at him as she placed her hand over her mouth, muffling the fresh sob as tears filled her eyes.
Disappointment and to some more extent hurt consumed her. Where did she go wrong in her upbringing that her child hid this very crucial decision of his life from her? Was she somewhere forcing her decision on him ??
" Akshara hear him out at least. I know you are disappointed, I am too but hear him out. That might be his reason. " Naitik said as he placed his hand on her upper arm.
" There is nothing to hear him out, Naitik. I would have heard him out if he had trusted his mother enough to confess whatever he was going through. I asked him many times about his relationship with Mayera, and whether he was happy or not with this alliance. He lied to me on my face. I can't believe ...I would have never known if she hadn't said no to this alliance. He would have happily gone ahead and married destroying four lives altogether ." She shook her head, feeling disappointment overwhelm her.
