Victor Reyes sat in the questioning room, his demeanor calm yet defiant, avoiding eye contact as if it would somehow lessen the gravity of the situation. Bella stood outside the door, exchanging glances with Lucas and Leo. She sensed they were getting nowhere with him, and a determination sparked within her.
"Can I assist?" she asked, her voice steady. The two men nodded, albeit with a hint of concern.
"Just be careful. You know his reputation," Leo warned.
Bella smirked, her eyes narrowing with resolve. "I'll be fine."
As she entered the room, the air grew thick with tension. Victor looked up, a cocky grin spreading across his face. "Well, well, if it isn't the pretty lab coat. Come to make me talk?"
Bella approached him slowly, her movements calculated. She removed her hair tie, letting her ginger hair cascade around her face, framing her features. Victor's smirk widened as he leaned back in his chair, clearly underestimating her.
"What's wrong? Feeling a little shy?" he teased, his bravado unwavering.
Without warning, Bella lunged forward, gripping his head with a firm hold and slamming it against the table. The impact echoed in the small room.
"Do you like it rough or easy?" she asked, her voice low and dangerous.
Caught off guard, Victor instinctively replied, "Rough."
With lightning speed, Bella reached for her belt, wrapping it around his neck. She yanked him closer, flinging him onto the table as he struggled against the sudden assault.
"Let's get one thing clear," she said, her tone icy as she leaned in closer, her grip tightening. "You're going to tell me everything, or I'll make this a lot worse for you."
Victor's bravado faltered as he realized she meant business. The bravado in his eyes dimmed, replaced by a flicker of fear. "Alright, alright! Just ease up a little," he gasped, his hands instinctively raising in surrender.
Bella maintained her grip, her face inches from his. "What do you know about the murder of Major Thompson?"
He hesitated for a moment, but Bella's unwavering gaze made him crack. "I did it. I poisoned him. He was getting too close to my operations."
Bella leaned back slightly, surprise flickering across her face. "And how did you manage that?"
"Lcpl McLean helped me," he admitted reluctantly. "She was the one who added the poison to his food. I didn't want to get my hands dirty, so I had her do it."
Bella tightened her grip again, forcing him to look her in the eyes. "You're going to give me everything you know about McLean and your operations, and you'd better not leave anything out."
Victor swallowed hard, fear beginning to creep into his demeanor as he realized the gravity of his situation. "Okay, okay! Just... don't kill me, alright? I'll talk."
As he began to spill more information, Bella's focus sharpened. She knew they were on the verge of uncovering a larger conspiracy, and Victor's confession was just the beginning.
Victor winced, still holding his neck as he glared at the ground, clearly embarrassed by Bella's comment. Bella shrugged casually, a smirk playing on her lips. "You said you liked it rough," she teased, her tone playful yet firm.
Leo burst into laughter, shaking his head in disbelief. "I didn't think you had a sense of humor, Bella," he said, still chuckling. "But I guess it's good to have a little fun while you work."
The CO joined in, chuckling as he tried to regain his composure. "We could all use some levity after everything we've been through," he said, glancing back at Victor. "Though I doubt he appreciates your sense of humor right now."
