When they finally reached the top of the trail, the view took Bella’s breath away. The city sprawled out below them, bathed in the warm hues of the setting sun. The lake glistened in the distance, surrounded by trees that seemed to go on forever. It was a peaceful contrast to the bustling life below, a serene moment shared just between them.Lucas stepped behind Bella, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close. She leaned back into him, feeling the warmth of his body against hers, and smiled as they took in the view together.
"This is incredible," Bella whispered, her voice soft with awe.
Lucas rested his chin gently on her shoulder, his breath warm against her neck. "Not as incredible as you," he replied, his voice filled with affection.
Bella felt her heart flutter at his words, and she turned her head slightly to look at him. The way he gazed at her, full of admiration and tenderness, made her feel cherished in a way she hadn’t felt in a long time.
They stood there in silence for a while, simply enjoying the moment. The world seemed to slow down, leaving them in their own little bubble atop the hill. It was as if everything had fallen into place perfectly, and for the first time in a long time, Bella felt completely at peace.
Lucas kissed her temple softly and whispered, “I don’t want to ever lose this feeling.”
Bella turned in his arms to face him, her hands resting on his chest. “You won’t,” she said, her eyes locked on his. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Lucas smiled, leaning down to capture her lips in a slow, tender kiss. It was the kind of kiss that promised more than just affection—it promised trust, companionship, and a future.
When they finally pulled apart, Bella rested her head against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. “I’m really glad we did this,” she murmured.
“Me too,” Lucas agreed, tightening his arms around her as they both stared out at the breathtaking view, content in each other’s presence.
As the sun dipped lower behind the horizon, casting a golden glow over the landscape, Bella and Lucas began their walk back to the cabin. The trail was peaceful, the sounds of birds settling for the night and the gentle rustle of leaves in the wind creating a calming atmosphere.
Lucas held Bella’s hand as they walked, his fingers intertwined with hers. Neither of them spoke much, but the silence between them was comfortable. Every so often, he would glance over at her, his smile reflecting the warmth he felt inside.
When they finally reached the cabin, the sight of it nestled by the lake felt even more welcoming after their hike. The last of the sunlight flickered on the water, giving the entire scene an almost magical glow.
“Home for the week,” Lucas said softly, squeezing her hand.
Bella smiled up at him. “I could get used to this.”
They stepped inside the cabin, the cozy warmth immediately enveloping them. Lucas flicked on the lights, casting a soft glow around the rustic interior. Bella inhaled the faint scent of wood and fresh air, loving the simplicity and tranquility of the place.
“I’m going to start a fire,” Lucas said, nodding towards the fireplace in the corner of the room. “Why don’t you relax for a bit?”
Bella nodded, watching as he knelt by the hearth to get the fire going. The crackling sound of the flames soon filled the room, adding to the cozy ambiance. She wandered to the large windows overlooking the lake, admiring how the moonlight danced across the water’s surface.
