"Hey! Get up let's go." I woke up as the night sky slowly became visible behind my closed eyes.
"Hmm?" I asked, looking up at my sister who was already in uniform and ready to go. Our uniforms had a dark green hood and a cape that went slightly over our right shoulders. A leather chest piece and leggings to give some armor but it was also dark so we were hard to see in the woods or at night. We had wristlets made of steel that protected our arms from the snap of our bows. Lastly, we had steel-toe boots with spikes on the bottom to help stick into surfaces.
"Come on, The Royal Miss is waiting for us."
"Okay, okay I'm getting up." I grabbed my bow and quiver which had about fifteen arrows in it. I grabbed my uniform and put it on as I was walking. The breeze of the night made my head cold since I had just recently gotten it put into cornrows so the hood would fit over it more easily. I cracked my neck and gave my body a quick stretch and my sister smiled as she began to run to the meeting area.
We were told to stay in the woods because it was easier to hide, and if we heard something that wasn't our hunting partner it most likely was someone or something not friendly. Every night we met to discuss our findings and see if there was any other danger but usually, it was just 'we found this.' 'I found this.' 'there was something across the river.' I was never that vocal, mainly because I was the only boy. Out of everyone, the only one. Our group had probably twenty-six people in it as long as nothing happened to anyone in the past twenty-four hours.
I began to run and we had a very specific route to get there that didn't take too long. We stayed elevated in a tree that had a lot of branches so we couldn't get seen or fall out of the tree. I had a small dagger in a sheath attached to my hip and I used that dagger to help me stick into the trees I hoped across. I slid down one into a small waterfall I slid down that dropped into a patch of grass. From the grass was a tree that had fallen over. I ran up that tree and grabbed a vine that was swinging from my sister who had already gone across. I jumped and latched my dagger into the cliff, climbed up and there was The Royal Miss. I bowed because that's what we were supposed to do.
"Know that the last two are here we can begin." The Royal Miss began speaking but seemed more hurried than normal. "We have a rather tense topic today."
The Royal Miss had a second in command who instead of leather had chainmail armor that covered her torso down to her knees, which then changed into the same boots as us. She had no armor protecting her shoulders or arms. Her wrists were protected by steel gauntlets that could turn into blades if need be, I was jealous of that fact, it was cool. She had a mask that came up from her armor and her bright blonde hair had silver highlights coming down from it. Her bright blue eyes were brighter than the rest of ours but hers were different, almost an icy blue instead of sky blue.
"As we informed you to watch out for Gornid, he is hunting the demigods we spoke about even more right now than he had been." The Royal Miss was worried, her bow was in her hand and I had never seen that before. "He is also sending out guardians to find any other demigods to help him create as little resistance between us and him."
"So we're all that stands between the demigods, Gornid, and the gods?" I asked without raising my hands or asking to speak.
"Poy!" My sister smacked me.
"Ow."
"Poy, you are correct but please wait until you are asked to speak, to ask your next question." Lucia, the second in command answered back and her voice soothed my soul.
"Thank you Lucia, but yes. Gornid is not afraid to come for us right now. He knows that we will defend the right side until we no longer can. We won't give up. Neither should any of you. So I'm sending a group of you to find the demigod teens and help them. Along with Fig and Lezlie." The Royal Miss ended her sentence.
