The council had dispersed in shock and tension, everyone shocked by what they had seen and heard. Elysandra had been locked in a safe room, and the chaos of the day had given way to a heavy silence as the sun set. Moriah and Seraphine, who had heard what had happened, had rushed to Waraha Castle. In the castle's great hall, Engfa, Charlotte, Elowen, Myx, and grandmother Rowena stood side by side. They had bowed their heads like guilty children, not knowing what to say to make an explanation.
Luther paced nervously in front of them. Everyone's eyes reflected the anger of a father waiting for an explanation, his mind full of questions. Moriah and Seraphine also watched the five with silent, serious eyes. They also wanted to know what was going on.
Luther finally stopped, took a deep breath, and spoke in a heavy voice. "Will one of you give me a proper explanation of how this happened?" he said, his voice authoritative yet slightly disappointed. "What I saw at the council... The sunlight, Morgana's grace... How is this possible?"
Moriah also crossed her arms over her chest, silently but intently looking at Engfa and Charlotte. Seraphine was worried that something would happen to her daughter, but she tried to hide the worry on her face.
Engfa took a deep breath, slowly raised his head. "Father, Moriah, Seraphine... It's hard to explain, but I have to explain everything to you." Luther gave an impatient look and waited for Engfa to speak. Engfa glanced at Charlotte briefly and shook her hand. Then he turned back to his father and the others.
"You know, Charlotte and I were physically joined on the night of the Blood Moon. We have had Morgana's blessing ever since," Engfa said. "It's not just a seal. It's a power granted to protect the realm. Charlotte's protection from sunlight is also a result of that bond."
"Is Morgana's grace that strong?" Moriah asked with a frown, her surprise unconcealed.
"It seems so," Engfa replied, his voice a little more determined. "But I also know that this is no ordinary power and that we must be on our guard at all times."
Seraphine looked at Charlotte with concern. "Is this a dangerous power, Charlotte? How are you, my daughter?" she asked, her voice filled with motherly compassion.
Charlotte took a deep breath and looked at her mother. "I'm fine, Mom. But what happened... It's more complicated than I thought."
At that moment, Grandmother Rowena raised her head and looked toward Engfa, saying, "Morgana's grace is a dangerous thing, but if used correctly, it will benefit the realm. The question now is how to channel this power."
Luther shook his head, frowning, and Luther's voice rose again, his eyes filled with both anger and disappointment. "And you, my dear family, why did you hide this from me?" he said, his voice echoing in every corner of the hall. Engfa, Charlotte, Myx, Elowen, and Rowena looked at each other and bowed their heads like guilty children. No one dared to speak.
The idea was Engfa's, but no one wanted to blame him. Luther watched the scene for a while, silently waiting to see what they would say. When he looked at his mother, Rowena, a desire to laugh rose in him. They were all like naughty children. Luther spoke, trying to hold himself back.
"For Morgan's sake, mother? I understand the others, but for an ancient witch like you to stand before me so guilty... It's both sad and ridiculous," he said, with a slight hint of humor in his voice.
At these words, the group started to chuckle. Everyone's face relaxed and a slight smile appeared. Myx smiled as she glanced at Engfa. Grandma Rowena bowed her head slightly, but there was a small twinkle in her eyes.
Luther's words had softened the atmosphere a bit, but his face soon became serious again. "Anyway..." he said, regaining his seriousness. "Answer my question? Why did you hide this from me?"
